    Greetings,

(Wool Fat lanolin Based Shaving Soap Week.)

A new shave set up to start the weekend...Recently i have had been having some wonderful shaves with my wool fat lanolin based shaving soaps so for all my shaves this week i shall be using them....Starting off with MWF. I absolutely love this soap once I stopped trying to figured out how to get the best from it.... "Being on a over zealous quest to achieve perfection from any shaving soap or any shaving item as a matter of fact is pointless IMHO".. I have realised you just loaded it up with a damp brush, add water to the tips of the brush in between each pass and hey presto it creates an acceptable slick lather. Some shaving soaps and creams, however work better than others, but all create an acceptable lather with a little patience & effort.
I like the mild lavender/spicy scent of MWF which isn't an "overpowering in your face scent" like some other shaving soaps have. On a personal note a shaving soap fragrance isn't that important to me as once I've rinsed my face with water the fragrance has virtually disappeared...What is important is a shaving soap provides slickness glide, protection and a good post shave feel, MWF does all this and more.

A close comfortable 2 pass + pick ups shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd The Man EdT to the pulse points.

My face is feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

I love all the Star razors I have but I have to say the Star Super Six and this one give the most amazing shaves. My 2 favorites for sure ! The restored brush shed 2 hairs 1st shave and a single the 2nd shave so it's a winner as well. Spicebomb scent from soap to aftershave to EDT and I'm ready for what the day brings me.........................as long as it's gentle [IMG] Have a Stupid Fun Day and Weekend Everyone !

The Palmolive Shave Cream lathered well with Jayaruh #424 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the TARMAX Razor by Tom set on 8 with an Astra SP Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Lustray Spice After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    L’Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Gillette day 4
    Lyko SC
    Prep ASB
Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS Splash

This Lyko cream is so nice - apparently it’s used in a lot of barbershops in India where it’s from. The scent is aquatic/minty, a dab on both cheeks is enough to give thick, rich, protective lather, it’s fairly mentholated, and the postshave feeling is good. The Prep and the Aqua Velva are such a great finishing combination. Three passes did the job superbly for me - smooth as silk!

Enjoy your day and your shaves - be well and safe!

I have the Star bar #4 model, Mfg 1920 and have to agree with you Dave on the quality of shave is outstanding. It might of been Star brand(Kampfe brothers, Brooklyn NY) last Lather catchers Mfg, world famous for their lather catchers.
The Gem Jr bar looks the same but there are slight changes that Star did to this model to make it shave ever do slightly better IMO. The blade stops allow the blade to sit forward 20/1000 or .020 of a inch approximately when I compare my Star bar & Gem Jr bar allowing a little more blade exposure or blade feel is my observation of the two.

Razor: Gillette slim adjustable, Mfg 1962 H2, great adjustable, sold millions around the world, nice range. Some blade overhang.
Blade: Derby Premium (3), Sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity. Derby better blade of many variants.
Soap: Ach Brito Lavanda, nice mild lavender scent with great lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Timberwolf whiskers, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice scrub + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Arch Brito Lavanda(Lavender & woody scent) with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea with HA.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = [IMG] Excellent shave with my Gillette slim with a Derby Premium blade.

While I go by feel and results more than checking the geometry (I'm a simple mind :D), I appreciate you explaining the reasons and it looks pretty clear the difference. Thanks and glad it's not all in my head Ron :happy088:

Feather Pro Supers are wicked sharp on the first use and seldom need an encore. At 5 uses, I start thinking about fresh steel, I’ll push this one another day though. Took the lazy man clean up side to center on theneck with the Hawk for the perfect finish.
