Thank you Gary! It was a fantastic shave! I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Merkur 34. It is such a different shaving experience, while I’m really comfortable with the Fatboy I have to say that I’m happy with the results!

i have a 34c in the box.only used twice or so in 5+ years..will have to give it a go..

 

One thing I love about the Gillette 195 is the audio feedback. I wasn't getting much of that with the Merkur. Now that I'm experimenting to use a blade twice I will shave with the Merkur again on Wednesday. It's great having options!

Gillette D1 Toggle, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, shaves 4 and 5


This one is a 1958 D1 date coded razor. I was going to post the other shave prior but thought it was prudent to wait until I did a second shave using the opposite side of the guard since the first shave didn't match up with an F4 razor when also set at 7. I didn't know if it was a case of one side maybe not working correctly. Second shave with the opposite side and the same result so either one of these razors is not working correctly or a D1 and F4 Toggle are tuned differently for each setting on the dial with the F4 being the more aggressive and closer of a shave. Close but no BBS cigar finish on both shaves with the D1 Toggle is the end result.

I love this scent and Soap Commander's Honor pairs with it extremely well even if they don't smell exactly the same. Just something about Honor that works with it IMO. Basically, Acier Aluminium smells like a powdery-metallic-banana. But I never really thought I was smelling banana until someone told me and then now I fully recognize it and wonder why I didn't recognize it. Something about the powder alters the banana into a very nice semi-sweet concoction and the metallic brace over the top makes it special and classy. Acier Aluminium is discontinued but 'maybe' if you look hard on the internet, you could find some still getting sold.

The Williams Mug Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #425 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick Repeating Razor C with a Schick Proline Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Using these 2 razors and deciding which to keep as my Buddy Gus is VERY kindly giving me buyers choice. Used matching handles to keep it fair. I knew in a stroke or 2 that the .95 OC was going to win. Love the small slim head but the better efficiency and cool look of the iconic Timeless along with being a smooooooth shaver wins for me. Citrus Ice is a winning from Todd on his "Take Care Man' Youtube channel. The Cream gives a nice lather and shave. The aftershave I will see as it feels like a film on my skin after application. May Pif the set down the road. Have a great day Everyone !
