1. Lovely lines and highly unusual scales - wonderful looking razor Tom :happy088: How was the shave?

  2. Thanks Karl. I was thinking about your Sheffield beauties as I was using this one. :eatdrink047:

The blade is near wedge and heavy, so you have that silent experience, and it was great. The thumbnotch is long but works, and the scales are special. This is another winning edge off that pink Coticule. The 2nd one is off a green Coticule, so interested to see how that will compare.

  4. I knew it! :)
  5. Saturday morning shave, little experiment with the Kayser, instead of honing it I went trough the Balsa stropp 150 rounds and the same on leather. A little bit better but not good enough. First pass the Kayser, second pass Böker.
Nice shave! Wish you all a good weekend.

  9. Awesome restoration, Scott! Beautiful razor! I'm still on the lookout for one. Would you recommend a 13 or 14? :)

This is sporting an edge from the green Coticule. Can’t form an opinion off one shave, but it definitively wasn’t bad. :)

    Handsome pair.
    Enjoy your shave.

  13. Thanks. As long as the 13 or 14 have plenty of blade left, both are fine. Some people prefer the 14's, because they are 1+ inch wide, and the 13's are around 13-14/16th inches wide.
My 14 is 15/16th, which is on the high end of what I prefer. I usually gravitate to razors 11-14/16th, but I can handle a good 15/16th. good
I'm not a big fan of the super wide blades.
  14. Wide blades will grow on you Scott, they did with me.

Still like this sucker. Nice weight. Nice easy shave.
  16. If I had a nice Fili 14 or a Koraat 14 2.0, I'm sure I would treasure and use it often. I do have one or two 1 inch blades in my arsenal.. But, it is just difficult to work, under the nose.
  17. I rather like the look of that razor very much.
    The shoulderless design.
The thumb notch with the spike.
And most especially the fine cut of the jimping.
At one time it probably had words,
maybe in gold wash, that identified what it was.

  18. Those ‘cutout’ scales seem like they might have a lot of usefulness in letting any residual moisture dry off the steel. Not to mention that they’re pretty damn cool!
  19. Always nice to find a razor that feels good. I must say that the width of the razors don’t matter so much for me. More the grind. I am not that fancy about Wedges. Have some but I always fall back to the Hollow grinds.
