You’re probably right on the branding being rubbed off. It’s a pretty clean blade. I would of thought it was barely touched when I got it. Probably one of my favorite blades in my collection overall.
I'm on the same page, as far as these new super wide shave hatchets go! My friend Joe (@Trigger) owns two, one by Wes Sprecher and the other by Yurii’s Kravchenko of Art Razor.
Hans, they’re Koa wood and surprisingly strong! I had the same concerns. I treat them regularly with Renaissance Wax.
M.K. 32, soap was MdC fougere lathered with a Simpsons milk churn, and a splash of Myrsol Plastic Shave finished up a good hot weather shave.
Personally I think the grind is more important than how wide it is. Also the Steel quality of course, the reason to choose Swedish steel! Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Hans, have you ever tried some of the old English cast steel/acier fondue? You might be surprised how much some of this steel is like Swedish - and may have been Swedish, lol. They’re kind of ‘hit or miss’ as far as the particular razor though. I have a Rodgers (not Joseph Rodgers) that I had to remove chips with a mellow 320 DMT, but diamond plates are rough on steel. But the Rodgers had a straight, even edge even off a diamond plate with good pressure. Not many steels can do this.
Very nice two and a half pass SR shave, including Fool's Pass, prior to mass and my audition for the choir: Razor- modded GD 208; Brush- Semogue 1305; Soap- A&E Kaizen; A/S- Clubman Classic Ceramic Scuttle- Renaldy, Japan Blew it on the first song: Pie Jesu (never sang it before) but redeemed myself on the next one.

13/16 Hishakaku Extra Very Hard, and it pretty much is. Incredibly well ground and finished. It’s a quarter hollow but the bevels are so tiny that they’re difficult to see even with a loupe. Cream was SMN lathered with a M&F L7 Blonde Badger and a splash of Agua Balsamica finished up.
Shave #7 for this Filarmonica 13. Another wonderful shave from this Fili 13. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Only issue was a small pimple on the jaw line, that I didn't know I had, that isn't there anymore. It was painless, but bloody. This is a wonderful razor, so far. Razor- Filarmonica 13 Doble Temple "Muleta" Brush- @jtspartan homemade brush. Boar knot. Great little brush. Not too Big, and not too Small Soap- AOS Peppermint Cream Aftershave- Shulton Lime. Ships Lantern decanter.
A. Barrett & Sons Brush: “Hot Off the Lathe” Suds: Ariana & Evans Splash: Fine L’Orange Noir Enjoy your shave. Tom
