So I had this post sitting here all day as I had forgotten to click the post reply button earlier. I binned the old blade and started fresh again. Unfortunately the shave wasn't really pleasant. I slowed way down, no skin stretching, and was as mindful of technique as I could be. I still ended up with a few spots and irritation. I am getting to the point that I am not sure if it is worth it to me to continue with this focus. I can get stellar results from a number of other razors and I don't have to be as slow or careful. The Aggressive version of the Hawk V3 is my current favorite and worlds different from the OC version. Not sure what I am going to do yet, but let me know if you want an OC Hawk V3 head....

    Enjoy your day.

Final X3Bar Pull workout is in the books until sometime in early 2022. :signs131: I will come back with an even greater sense of purpose to maintain my health..
Following my workout, I had a nice three pass shave. I used the Sats Fe Soap Ranch RWV. Since it is in a mug I opted to face lather. Also, I chose to shave my head using the Ever Ready 1912 razor. I normally don’t shave my dome, as SWMBO prefers a little fuzz that is left by the shears. The upcoming surgery may hinder the use of the shears for a couple weeks. As a result I probably bought two extra days before I would have to contemplate either going to a barber, attempting myself or asking SWMBO to be the barber.

I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 AM tomorrow. I may be sidelined for a day or so regarding posts.

Hope you all had a great day.

Sorry that the OC head is being a challenge. I would say you have given it a fair chance to impress you.

That is one awesome shave Joe. Are you making a bid to be the next 30 DC Ironman now that I had a break in the consecutive shaves I. July?

The width of the razor does not determine the shave, but the edge does as long as the shaver is proficient in straight shaving. My only issue with the 4/8 razors are that it holds less lather and therefore, you have the rinse it more frequently. I guess that I can say the same about all my other razors except my 2 big guns. It really boils down to preference. I am just glad that you enjoy straight shaving.

Is there a reason why you do not stretch the skin, Dale? I am asking because I do regardless of the razor and find that if I do not, then my skin will bunch up causing an increase in the probability of wounding myself.

Thanks Joe. No, I am giving my face a rest today. Also, the shave was so close that 26 hrs later, I still do not need to shave. Yes, I could feel my stubble, but it is not that noticeable. Again, you will be in my prayers tomorrow.

I normally do, but with this razor over the past few months I have come to realize that when I stretch the skin, it is a little too much and I end up with a bunch of minor nicks. Without stretching the shave suffers, but I cut myself much less.

It is unfortunate, but it may just be a bit much for me. The 2011 Muhle R41 and a Parker shavette were only other razors tried that got the best of me. Aside from the last two weeks, I have used this razor in rotation since April and am just not feeling the love. I think I am going to swap out for the Hawk V3 Aggressive tomorrow and see if it was as nice to me as I remember.

I don't know what else to say except that you may have overstretched the skin or indeed the razor/blade is not compatible to your beard/skin type.

Sounds to me like it may not be worth the trouble, Dale. Enjoy your shave with the aggressive head tomorrow!
