The razor is Rhodium plating and the case we went with Nickel to allow for the case to endure micro-flex of the panels (for opening and closing) to avoid any breaks in the plating (it as told to me that Rhodium, while tough and rigid also can crack/break if a flat surface is slightly flexed). I deferred to their expertise and experience in plating these items. It's my prize razor. So beautiful. It, however, is not the easiest shave. I run the highest risk of raw/scraped skin from this razor than any other and blades just don't last long in it. I get 3, maybe 4 decent shaves then I have to toss the blade due to tugging. I still haven't found a perfect blade for it yet. However, I get fantastic shaves out of the Gold-Plated 1907 Gillette Old-Type with a Wilkinson Sword blade. And I love the two Super-Speed's I own. Razor Emporium did the re-plating on all my antique/vintage Gillette razors.
Those Richman brush handles are among the best in this hobby. It's impossible not to really enjoy looking at them.
