Sept 27 SOTD Good morning! Shavette Shave #309 Parker SRB Astra Blues 1/2 DE (4) Hembree/Maggard Synthetic Brush Razorock Classic SS Old Spice P/G AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's WH Beard Growth: 31 hrs Danny's brush produced a nice, creamy, lather as I facelathered the RR Classic soap. Did 2 passes for a fantastic BBS shave without cuts or irritation. Applied the alum treatment and got some slight zinging on my neck. Splashed on the witch hazel and double portion of the Old Spice and I am ready to face the world. Have a great day!
Yaqi Katana razor head Generic brass handle Feather blade - snapped and fresh. Brass synthetic brush Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite Soap Commander Honor shave balm with menthol Wow! What a way to start the week. I was undecided on the set up last night and finally throwed this together. Awesome lather and the Katana was smooth as silk this morning. Three lovely passes with no blood loss. Finished the shave with the Honor balm and I'm ready for the day! Take care everyone!
Denali/Kai (1). Best thus far, but still trouble with tricky head stubble. Clean up with Thorn . Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
Danny, I'd come help you if I was in T-Town. On Friday, I finished sharpening a chain, but after I reattached it, the chain would not spin. Apparently, the last time I used it, when it jumped off track, one of the links ended up bent. Either way, I have 3 spare chains that I will finish sharpening this week. I reattached one of the other dull chains and it spins fine, so it is not the bar or the mechanics. I have a Husqvarna 460 Rancher with a 20" bar that is a joy to run. Ollie had to watch and make sure I was ok...
Thanks Charlie, and a happy belated birthday(or is it belated happy??). When you stretch your skin while shaving, how do you avoid shaving the hand that stretches the skin? My shave was indeed better today.
RR Hawk V3A Schick Proline (4) Semogue 26mm BC Mistura MWF Superior 70 Two passes on 4 days growth. I could have used a little touch up on the neck, but a nice shave overall. Enjoy your day.
Real good shave this morning, coming back with the Oud Wood features(AgadirMen A.S. and prep-shave, and Razorock Tuscan Oud soap)I find I don't need a minute to load the soap onto the brush-the Tuscan Oud is pretty moist to begin with. 0:40 suffices. Good "paint job" all over to set up the shave. The first place I went was what I missed yesterday-right sideburn area at the jawline(border of Porcupine Alley and Cactus Nation). Everywhere else was well-done, though I think I can do better at South Central Porcupine. Was OK, though. No Knicks/cuts. Super Duper Excellent.
Thanks gentlemen. The website was incredibly helpful. (I am excited that it is Canadian made since it is a gift from our BC friends and because of my Canadian 30 DC brothers.) Would you agree it is an E1?
Thank you, Paul. I am glad your shave was better today. I try to keep my stretching hand out of the "line of fire" of the razor. In other words, if you're shaving North to South, keep your stretching hand above the razor, and vice versa. I'm sure there are times when you could violate this rule to get a better stretch, but it's not worth slipping and cutting your hand or fingers. I've never shaved with oil (and don't intend to), but I think this gentlemen does a good job stretching his skin. Skin stretching has a couple of benefits, in my opinion. It allows the hairs to stand up and eliminates skin folds for a more efficient/safer cut, and it causes me to slow down, enjoy the shave, and focus on more on correct technique. I always get a better shave when I take the extra time to stretch my skin, regardless of the razor. I hope this helps you, my friend. Let us know what works for you. We're all here to learn and improve.
It has a round spring and has random striations on the bar guard instead of parallel grooves, so I would say E2.
SEptember 25th and 27th Saturday Schick E3 w Personna APShave SynBad/Poculi Stirling Autumn Glory Thayers Today Schick E3 w Personna TGN Finest/Maple Stirling G&T Thayers Dior Eau Sauvage Switched to a different Schick for the past few days. This one had been pulled from the rotation as it is so close in feel to the '66'. A great shaver, but yes, quite close in feel to the G4. Have a great day all!
I have a very similar saw (455 Rancher, 20" bar) and had that happen to a chain as well. Excellent saw, though.
Love the job on that brush, Danny. I think I'll reach for the Katana again tomorrow...you're inspired me.
Interesting...Not sure about that, but it is fair to say it will add a couple of years to his unmarried status for sure.
