Hello everyone! We are entering a new era of the 30 DC thread. I am taking the baton from @Primotenore to be the new guardian of this thread. I want to thank the Maestro for his faithful stewardship during the many months that he has maintained this section of the TSD forum. I have awesome shoes to fill and I appreciate all your support. If for some reason you have a question or concern, please pm me because my virtual door will always be open. Ok, let's get to the business at hand. I want to welcome all the veterans of the 30 DC and all the newcomers. This thread is for the purposes of improving your shave technique so that you will consistently get great shaves. There are a number of ways to do it. These are suggestions so feel free to do whatever you want in regards to your shave: The 30 Day Rule Take ONE razor, ONE blade, ONE brush, ONE soap/cream and use them EVERYDAY this month. Yes, everyday. But Trigger, I want variety! I know you do, but until you perfect your technique, it makes little sense to constantly change the variables of your shave. For you out there that are not up to the rigors of the Rule, there is this alternative: The Focus Vary the gear for each shave, save for perhaps one or two elements. This is a more accessible challenge for the majority of shavers. I like to pick a particular aspect of the shave, be it the lather, a certain blade or a new razor, that needs breaking in, and not change it daily, until I have mastered those tools. Ok, to keep the thread on a nice even keel, I ask everyone to follow the thread etiquette as listed below: 1. New Members always welcome. Start anytime. 2. Old Members always welcome. 3. Respect everyone. 4. Refrain from political conversation.** ** This includes, but is not limited to: Covid-19, treatments and/or advice. Please keep these discussions off of this thread. Tradition dictates that October be dedicated using “Open Comb Razors". You do not have to follow this month's theme because there are some that do not have open comb razors or they have just a few. That's ok! We encourage flexibility. Finally, I want this thread to continue to be a friendly place. It is ok to disagree because that is how we learn from each other, but let's encourage and respect every member. Yes, even if you think they are off the wall. Let's face it! We all are a little off because of our different Aquisition Disorders. Lol! Let's have a group hug! Let's have super October shaves! In your service, Trigger
Awesome intro Joe and I appreciate you taking the pilot house this go around. A much needed round of applause for Joseph for his past efforts. Leading this group is like herding cats at times. Joe, you look amazing in your 30DC furnished car....you are the Grand Poobah. I think I'll be focusing on my open combs this month. Looking foward to the ride gentlemen!
Thank.you, Danny! I am counting on you and some of the other members to assist me and to pm me for feedback. I am up to the challenge. I want to build this thread back to it's former glory. I am not interested in the number of posts, but the quality of the interaction between members. People come and go and that's their choice. However, I would welcome them back with open arms.
It's not about where we've been, or how high we happen to fly. It's about where we're trying to go. Fully concur. Sent from my motorola edge plus using Tapatalk
This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with Joe. I believe that is actually one of the best parts of this little corner of the internet. I have real actual friends as a result of those who gather here. I am so grateful to all who gather here, it's a pretty special place. Sent from my motorola edge plus using Tapatalk

Oct 1 SOTD Wow! I am the first one to post a shave. Well, I decided to use my only open comb razor, the Müehle R102. Müehle R102 Gillette 7 o clock PermaSharp (?) JR #386 Silvertip Badger Cella SS Old Spice AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's WH Beard Growth: 37.5 hrs Cella is just a wonderful soap and my superstar brush always makes a nice lather. Had to do 3 passes because the blade was on its last legs. I did get a near BBS shave, but if I had a fresh blade, then I would only need 2 passes to get a full BBS shave. Did not cut myself and no irritation was evident. Finished with the alum, witch hazel and Old Spice for a nice shave. Let's start this month with great shaves! Have a wonderful day!
Open Comb October - I bypassed Fat Friday, sorry Jeff. Above the Tie R2 aluminum plate on Atlas handle. Astra SP blade (fresh) MrEE LE #011 handle with Dscosmetics synthetic knot. Soap Commander Fortitude shave soap. American Tobacco by Andy Hilfiger cologne. Awesomeness in the lather bowl this morning. Love the scent and performance of the Fortitude this morning. The ATT knocked it out if the park. While not the smoothest razor in the den it is an efficient machine. Three nice passes and for some reason a little dot showed up. A little witch hazel and American Tobacco and the first shave of October is in the bag. Happy Friday Everyone! * My tip for today is to enjoy the lather. I know you are asking what does Danny mean by this? I mean slow down and spend some time whipping up the lather. Don't short change yourself. Sometimes we get in a hurry but spend a little more time whipping up the lather....you will be rewarded with better lather and you get to enjoy the scent a little longer.
