Nice razor Karl, the name Lund is in the Scandinavian languages a small forest mostly consisting of leaf trees or a part of a cemetery where you spread the ashes. Also a name, in Sweden 7870 have it as a surname, 88 men and 67 women as first name.

Here’s a mellow old Wosty frameback of the old style, great shaving razor. Soap and AS were ABC and the lathering duty was a 2-band Duke 3 copy by @life2short1971

Interesting - in that case I grew up nearby and played in a lund as a child (the small forest, not the cemetery.) Wonderful times. :happy088:

I decided to have another shave with my new Weck Sextoblade. The razor comes from the estate of a third party beauty/shaving supplies salesman and former barber, according to his great-granddaughter. My first shave with it featured a new Personna hairshaper blade, however, I noticed that the spine appeared to have some hone wear. So I soaked the original Sextoblade blade itself in barbicide overnight, This morning I ran it across my Swaty barber’s hone with som Smith’s Honing oil, after placing it back in the razor, until the edge looked good under my USB microscope.

I believe that the original blade had never been removed, as I was unable to remove it with my fingers when it first arrived, and needed a needle nose pliers to do so. Judging by the amount of shave residue on the original Sextoblade blade coupled with the hone wear on the spine, I believe the former owner treated it just like a regular straight and never removed it from the razor. In fact the original blade looks like it is double beveled. The shave angle on this old antique tool is virtually identical to the angle I use with my regular straight razors. My two and a half pass mug shave with it this morning was every bit as good as my first shave with a fresh blade installed leaving me just as smooth.

RAZOR: Weck Sextoblade (Mug), Shake Sharp Model 1.5 (Dome)
BLADE: Original Rehoned Sextoblade Blade (Mug), 2 Stacked Feather DE
    (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #005 Aluminum Handle SynBad Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with PAA Frost Byte AS Splash.

The word I most often use to describe the Riga is effortless. It’s well deserved and the stubble fell without effort - easy peasy and super smooth :happy036:

User Novodur, soap was Provence Sante Green Tea, one of those ‘under the radar’ soaps that meets or beats the established classics (and for $10). A keyhole 3 did the mixology and a splash of Formula K peppermint finished up.

Interesting post about the Weck Jeff. I’ve run across removable blade framebacks that were ‘gunked up’ and the blade difficult to remove. The problem with these is that any twisting motion at all will snap a blade that’s usually difficult or impossible to replace. I use a small copper hammer on the back of the blade to gently drive them out. No problems yet.

Thanks for the tip, Steve. In the Weck’s case my 35 year old Leatherman needle nose pliers were just the ticket. I’m going to be sticking with that old original Sextoblade blade and my Swaty! Thanks again!

Something a little special for this Sunday morning, a 13/16 Coral. The only information about the maker, Takagi Riki, was on Jim Rion’s blog years ago. They are extremely well made razors with unusual blade graphics, and a bit of an Irish nose!

The soap continues the theme of cheap soaps that meet or beat the classics, in this case a nice one for our friends across the pond, Cyril Salter tallow hard soap. Connaught has the 70g refill for under £4 and it is an excellent soap. BTW, they also have the 99g Culmak refill for the same price which I have not tried. Has anyone tried the Culmak? Good/bad/mediocre? The AS was SMN to compliment the quite nice but faint lavender of the soap.
