    Razor: AA Gen Takahashi Tokusei
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
    Lather: Cella Crema da Barba
    Aftershave: PAA Chella Cool
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Wonderful Chella shave this morning. The Hembree Derlin Boar easily whipped up a slick lather. The Japanese razor took care of the whiskers with ease. My face is feeling smooth courtesy and the razor and refreshed as a result of my post shave routine. SWMBO enjoys this scent. Always a plus in my book.

SWMBO and I are off the her eye doctors for an early morning appointment. Following the appointment we will be hitting Costco for some supplies and the outlets to do some Christmas shopping. Oh Happy Joy Joy. :angry021:

Awesome PdP shave Eric. I love how my boars whip up and dispense lather.

I agree that Stirling and Cremo provide great slickness, but I also find that Cella and Arko should be included. I get awesome headshaves with Arko, Cella and Cremo. I only use Stirling for faceshaves because it is much easier to smell the different scents due to the fact that the soap is closer to the nose.

Cella is the bomb! Wonderful shave with your Japanese straight Joe! Hope all goes well for your wife at the eye doctor's office. Enjoy your day.

Well, I have every confidence that I'm going to get a great shave with Stoylin. And lately, I've felt the same about some of my other soaps. As for blade usage, that's interesting what you said about how it may "slip" rather than "slide". I need to find that happy medium. I've used canned gels before, but the last time I did, I found myself saying "Boy, the scent of this stuff will cancel out that of any aftershave" . It's been real long since I last used Rise Superforam, but as I recall, it was strong like a gel,(maybe that's how the word "Super" came to be), but had the appearance of a cream/foam. But I do have a lot of Stoylin parapheralia, and they will get good use.

I hope that Doc Ezlovan flips in another hand soap with my order-the Xecutive Man is beginning to break. Maybe it'll last a couple more days.

That isn't it, Joe...it's just that sometimes I "take a break" and use the sophisticated goo. But the soaps get the high majority of usage.

Ok. However, it seems that most of your mishaps come when you use the canned stuff. It is your shave so I believe do it your way. However, if it was me getting cuts from using goo, then I toss it out. Primo and I are just giving constructive criticism.

Yes I know(about the constructive criticism ), I do appreciate that. I believe I've had cuts from shave soap as well, but I keep that. It's how I shave, not what I use TO do it. Course I've had Outta This World shaves using both, too.

    Hi all...
    Feeling much better today.
    I shaved earlier than yesterday.
I also brought out a hardly ever used tool.
    20211203_114134.jpg

When I do a vintage shave I also like to use not just the razor but try to also use some era software.
If a guy can't afford an expensive razor, he probably can't afford expensive software.
So along with my 1907 Dime Razor with a new (of course) GEM Personna blade...
I didn't have any Colgate soap but Arko stick fits in the holder and an old horse hair brush from the Era.
A splash of 80 proof rum as after shave to finish it off.

Now I can see the wheels spinning for some....
I got an amazingly good shave.
No nicks, cuts or burns, I'm also very clean and smooth.

I personally feel I have my technique on par with the equipment I use.
Proving, at least to me, technique trumps tools.

I like this razor quite a bit and if not for fear of breaking it.
I would use it more often.

Yes Joe.... I shaved the gourd with it.
    ;)

    All

    Enjoy

    Thanks Barry.
But you should know that this philosophy was exclaimed here in this little group of misfits way before I appeared.
    I just shave by it.
    It took time...
    It took practice....
It took listening and watching these guys using their tools of destruction and terror to figure it out.

But I feel this grasshopper has finally learned from the masters here.
