Thanks, Ron. I used to have some other ETHOS products, but in the end, the Lavender was the keeper.

    SATURDAY'S SHAVE

Bath Soap - Early American Old Spice Bubble Bath and matching Bar Soap circa 1930's
    [IMG]
Razor - Gillette Superspeed (circa 1947-1952) (Re-plated in Nickel Finish by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - [IMG] *5th shave
Shave Brush - Ever-Ready 1960's vintage (Polished and re-knotted with a synthetic 26mm Ubersoft II knot from Envyshave by Razor Emporium.)
Shave Soap - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice Bath Soap
Aftershave - Thayer's Witch Hazel "Unscented"
Deodorant - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice Talc Powder
Fragrance - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice circa 1930's

***EDIT - 1 pass + clean up. Tough shave. Some blood, but not a real 'cut'. More like an abrasion that will is undoubtedly going to be a razorburn. I should have applied pre-shave oil to ensure protection. I was fooled by the soap feeling super-slick and reasonably protective to the touch. I assumed it would shave well. One of the keys to get these old soaps to be their best is to wear several layers down until you get rid of the 'old' smelling soap and revealing a more functional soap inside. At that point the soap performs about as well as it can. Now after this experience I know that pre-shave oil is going to be a requirement in the future.

On to the second part, the skin treatment phase. I pulled out the PAA Alum block and put it to work. Yeah, it stung and stopped the bleeding quickly. I cold water rinsed the Alum, which leaves trace Alum behind. I then applied my own formula of Witch Hazel, Isopropyl alcohol, glycerine and menthol. Waved air on the skin until semi-dry then decided to go completely old-world vintage and used the Early American Old Spice Talc Powder on my neck to soothe the raw spots. I usually only put the Talc on my underarm pits as deodorant, but this situation gave me the chance to use the best remedy for this recovery. I may possibly have to skip shaving tomorrow to heal this properly, so we'll see if a Sunday Shave is going to happen. Usually Talc Powder relieves irritation, but delays healing a bit. In this case it's best to relieve the discomfort at the expense of recovery speed because I don't want to feel burning irritation all day if I apply balm or oil (although those will give a faster recovery process which could give a better chance at a shave tomorrow).

I feel comfortable now and smell great from this old spicy vintage that preceded the Old Spice men ended up with.

That is really cool Tim! I’m trying to get my head around the fact that you acquired soap products that are almost 100 years old!

I tried the carpet blades and it was terrible. I never tried a blade mod. Hopefully it works better next time.

    Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend..

After a month of using the Parker 98r... For the rest of December i intend to use hardware & software that i have infrequently used over the last year....Starting with the Edwin Jagger DE 89...It's been a while since i last used the LPL Fougere soap which is a French 100% vegan soap to be honest this vegan soap is absolutely amazing, i only used a small amount but it produced enough lather for the full shave without going back to the sample tub to add more. The slickness is fantastic, as is the fragrance protection & the post shave feel...The razor & blade duo was absolutely fantastic....Super smooth and efficient...I wasn't sure if the Derby Usta would pair together with DE 89, How wrong i was. They paired together excellently...Wow!

A very enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report....Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd London 2000 EdT to the pulse points.

My face is feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

So you may have seen a theme as you read down the list of what was used......................what, you didn't read it? I'll wait while you go check it out................Back now ? Good ! Yep, Dragonsbeard is my FAVORITE scent and we have a few of Frank's products in this scent as well as a bunch of other scents. I noticed that if Frank would come out with his own SS Razor, some blades and a Witch Hazel I would have all categories covered. Took the day off from boars because I MUST use the Dragonsbeard brush when I use this setup. I had a TREMENDOUS shave and smell even BETTER. I never do it but may need to groundhog day this setup tomorrow. Have a great weekend folks !!

The Proraso Sandalwood lathered well with the Jayaruh 414 Silvertip Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Double Ring Razor with an Astra SP Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Saturday morning’s Grand Freeze:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Minora day 11
    MSC Frosted Lavender SS
    Prep ASB
    MSC Frosted Lavender AS Splash

My face is so frozen from this menthol bombardment that I think it’ll take all day to thaw out. Fernando’s Frosted Lavender soap and aftershave are two menthol atom bombs with such a beautiful scent. The soap is tallow based, its lather works up so thick, rich, and slick, the menthol sensation easily compares to any of the Stirling Glacials, and the skincare is brilliant. The Prep needs no description or explanation because it’s so good, and the Frosted Lavender aftershave literally froze my face to smithereens - it’s witch hazel based so there’s zero burning or stinging - it feels so good. What a dynamite BBS shave this was and I enjoyed it so much!

Be well and safe - enjoy your weekend!
