I lova you as my brothers.

Happy New Year and may God bless your house.

Knowing how to throw the left hand body hook also helps.

@jtspartan - I especially feel we find a way to meet. We will ask Gary @brit to referee

This is not about Bryan Adams, Avril LaVagne , or whatever. It's about Canada

These are my two favorite Canadian pop tracks of all time

“ECWS Top 5 Soaps Used for the First Time for 2021” - # 4 for 2021 is the Mitchell’s Wool Fat. This soap was a birthday gift from my oldest daughter for my birthday last January. Following a load of about 75 seconds on the brush and to the blown to finish the production of the lather, l have a thick and slick lather. The soap being unscented allows plenty of options for an aftershave pairing.

I had a wonderful three pass shave that has left my face feeling smooth and refreshed. The lanolin in the soap coupled with the CL Face Toner do wonders for the face.

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: JR Torrey Celebrated Hollow Ground
Brush: PAA The Green Ray 24 mm
    Lather: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender Toner
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

SOTD MONDAY MORNING, JANUARY 3, 2022

This morning’s mug shave featured the Bartmann 11/16. The edge on this razor is standout, and although they were only made for 50 years (1948 - 1998) they have achieved almost a cultic following among a select group of wet shavers. I, for the most part, collect one representative razor from each of the brands that interest me. To date, the only exceptions consist of a certain modern artisan’s work and a vintage brand. They are Victor Creazzi’s two razors and my two Thistle Cut razors. I may add Bartmann to that select group.

My mug shave this morning would certainly offer support to the latter feeling. Certain razors just exude quality, and the Bartmann is certainly one of them. If I were ever to get a 7 day set, this is certainly one of the brands I’d consider. The razor is extremely well-balanced, and quite easy to shave with despite a weak Parkinsonian grip. One of the positives of my recent stroke, is that it apparently impacted my upper and lower extremities. I no longer need weights on my arms to straight shave. Whether that’s the result of muscle memory from daily straight shaves over the past few years or not, I welcome it. Two and a half passes and my mug is dolphin smooth.

I’m definitely not a Gillette fanboy, but do prefer the first two generations of their razor designs. The single ring noggin shave yesterday was decent, but today I grabbed my Gillette New Standard, the razor that introduced me to this highly efficient and my favorite Gillette head design. It’s acquisition led to the New LC and New SC blade holders. I really appreciate this safety razor head design. Gillette TTOs just don’t do it for me. My two pass ATG noggin shave with the New Standard left me cool, clean and velveteen from dome to shoulders.

RAZOR: Bartmann 86 11/16 (Mug), Gillette New Standard (Do e)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Aluminum Handled Monster Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Williams Aqua Velva AS Splash (Spanish Version)

Excellent shave Jeff! I don't recall you mentioning that you had a recent stroke, but glad you are OK. As you stated, it freed you from using weights while straight shaving so that's definitely a silver lining scenario. Enjoy your day.

And here's my commentary and grade for today's shave:

    GOOD NEWS:

    -
nice paint job all around face and neck-looked whiter than soap.
    -two healthy passes
-good work along face&neck(the shave action)
-able to administer some "do-overs"(right cheek)*
-good application of the Clubman A.S. (great match for the Rocky Mtn. Barber Co. Barbershop cream)

    BAD NEWS:

    -2 Knicks at S. Porcupine(chin area)

    FINAL GRADE/COMMENTARY: Super Duper Excellent.

Great shave kit, Danny! The Karve with the OC_D is my ideal Karve setting. It’s my automatic setting. I have to attend more closely to my E and G plates.
