I must make a revision of my previous statement. The CVH MK No.24 3/8” was quite common in barbershops. Especially with the grid attachment for trimming neck hair. Now I have 3 of them… Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
My CVH collection, starting with the ones that have to be overhauled, from top: No.4 11/16” No.8 5/8” Unmarked that I dropped on the floor and damaged the scales but not the edge. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk

Here's an old C.V. Heljestrand. The tang stamp references The Great Exhibition Of The Works Of Industry Of All Nations 1851 and The Great Industrial Exposition Of Stockholm 1866. It has residual lower jimps near the heel which remind me of a 200 year old Scargill that someone told me had been reground from a wedge into a hollow ground. I haven't shaved with it yet.
Congratulations, about 150 years old and it looks nice. You will be surprised how good it will shave. CVH is something special. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
You’re not kidding, Hans! I had one of my best straight razor shaves ever with my 1920s vintage, new-to-me CV Heljestrand Mk29.
Hi guys... I got a question regarding a Heljestrand razorknife and I hope you can help with your expertise. I recently bought a Heljestrand MK 24 7/16 but I can't find any information about this model. It's not even listed in razorknife databases or maybe I'm just unable to find information about this special item. Do you know this model and can you tell me something about it? I would apprecciate your feedback. Thanks in advance
Approximately how much is it worth? I will send it to a blacksmith to have the blade sharpened and polished to bring it back to it's former glory. The Helvestrand is in wonderful condition. Bought a couple of straight razors in Sweden a few weeks ago and would like to start collecting them to shave myself. Prices for Helvestrand Razors fluctuate a lot on the internet. Would like a professional opinion. That's why I registered in this forum. Somehow the passion grabbed me. Thank you for your help.
A blacksmith? I hope that this is a translation issue. Search eBay for completed auctions. These are not rare or valuable razors, though they are nice. Here’s one that sold: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284503493298?hash=item423dbacab2:g:JfIAAOSwTshhdx7l
And just by the way... how do I recognize if it's a quarter hollow or a near wedge? What is the difference ? Has the difference impact on the shave in regular ? Do you need more photos ? Thanks for your message, mate...
Sorry... in germany it's not called a blacksmith... it's called "Schärfer". https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/113..._XBuC1gN-JIQBl4UVfI68q3KbXXiR8L8aAnd1EALw_wcB Here I found a link... round about 60 € for MK No 24 (but no 7/16)
Etsy asking prices are crazy, unrealistic. Look at eBay completed auctions to see what is really being paid, not what’s being asked.
Ok. Good to know. Thanks for this info chart. Prices are crazy... I saw a MK No. 24 for 200€... of coarse in beautiful condition but I still don't know what is the best blade for a good shave and which type of Heljestrand straight razors is the most collected... do you think my MK No. 24 is a good one to begin with?
