Just wondering what cheek miss you are referring to as you reference getting rid of it when you felt it? In my book, if you got rid of it = No miss, No foul.

So I give you the opportunity to change you rating to SDE.

Rattlers look like a Frameback but are a single piece of steel. They were ground horizontally instead of vertically. This is what they look like. It’s a snap of mine:

Others have said that you can do this and I agree that it's possible however I always worry that I may accidentally drag the edge on the stops and ruin the blade so I tend to just leave a blade alone until it's used up. It's not the end of the world if a blade gets ruined but I have no reason to risk it.

    January Injector Focus Shave #4
    Pre-shave: None
    Lather: Stirling Soap Company "Sheep"
    Brush: Jayaruh 347 Boar Bristle
    Razor: Schick G4 "66" injector
    Blade: Supply Black Label (1)
    Post-shave: Nivea Sensitive balm

    SOTD_2022-01-08.jpg

January injector focus shave number four was a special shave. This is my absolute favorite injector razor, both for how it looks and the way shaves. I love the chrome textured head paired with the dark blue handle. The angle of the head is so natural and the handle, while very short for my large hands, fits just right. I honestly can't say enough good things about it.

I have been breaking in the Jayaruh brush this month and it's off to a great start. I didn't load up the brush enough last time I used it and the lather just disappeared when I brought it to my face. This time I loaded it up quite a bit and didn't have that problem. The sheep base is really something special!

I had a textbook three pass shave ending in a solid BBS- result. I started chasing a full BBS but decided not to risk ruining an otherwise exceptional shave. I'm very much enjoying the focus on injectors. I've gotten to use several great razors that otherwise would have been overlooked for the new interesting thing. I think I'll have to have a month of GEMs at some point.

Thanks for reading and happy shaves!

Great classic kit, Eric! Does it get any better than injectors or Gems? Enjoy your shaves!

Wonderful shave, pic and post Eric. I have never tried Sheep because I feared the smell would be offensive to me. But then again, with my chronic sinusitis it may not be an issue.

    Face Lather.
Lather: Wilkinson Sword Classic soap bowl.
    Blade: Treet Classic. (D2)
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic.

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse./ Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Wilko Men's Moisturiser./blue Stratos EdT.

    Greetings,

    A relaxing Sunday morning shave.

A near Wilkinson Sword themed shave...The Inexpensive WS classic is a mild razor which is a good every day/newbie shaver. The two piece design of the razor makes it easy to load the blade, covering the full blade with no exposure of the blade edges, which is brilliant for shaving sensitive area without the risk of getting Cuts & nicks from the blade ends...The Blade gap is considerably smaller than the newer WS premium TTO, but still gives an acceptable presentable shave....The razor/ Treet classic blade combo performed well together.

A comfortable 2 pass + pick ups close shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of blue Stratos EdT to the chest & pulse points.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy your Sunday ladies & gentlemen.

Super Sunday shave Barry! I have seen the WS razor used on one of the YouTube videos and I believe it is made out of hard plastic. I need a more efficient razor so the WS razor wouldn't be a good match for me
However, it would make a nice travel razor for someone that's into mild razors. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, JANUARY 9, 2022

Dang it! What do you do when you have too many great straight razors! If you’re my son, you set up a dedicated room in your house for the collection and end up with a lot of wonderful razors reduced to display queens! Not my style! This morning’s mug shave was just amazing!

CV Heljestrand exported most of their razors 5/8 or larger. My CV Heljestrand Mk29 4/8 was one of the models made 90 to 100 years ago and designated for their domestic market. Mine traveled here in the custody of a Swedish family that emigrated and settled in Texas.

The edge on this little beauty is absolutely “divine” as my Limey friend, Barry (@palmolive fox), likes to say. It tore through my mug whiskers this morning like the Romans through the Sabine women! Two and a half passes left me porcelain smooth. I understand why people collect this vintage brand.

I rate my Gillette safety razors a little differently than some! Their second generation “New” models are my favorite followed by the first generation Old Type with my least favorite being their third generation TTO models.

My noggin shave this morning featured one of my seldom used first generation Old Type razors. This particular Ball End handled safety razor dates to the early 30s and marked the end of production for this model. No complaints about the dome shave delivered - two ATG passes that left me velveteen smooth from noggin to neck!

RAZOR: CV Heljestrand Mk29 (Mug), Gillette Ball End Handled Old Type (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: JT Sapele/Resin Handled Omega Pro48 Boar Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Old Spice Original Splash (Indian Version)
