The De Vergulde Hand Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #20 Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Merkur Progress Razor with a Wilkinson Sword SS Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk Cologne. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I have the regular De Vergulde Hand soap which I love. I never tried the Extra Fris version. What’s the scent like?

The Arko stick has always been a top favourite of mine - it’s a love/hate thing with a lot of guys because of the scent but I love it. I had tons of thick, rich, super slick lather as well as such a comfortable postshave feeling. The Thayer’s Lavender witch hazel hardly has any scent but it’s so soothing, the Prep gave me lots of additional moisturizing along with its nice cooling sensation, and the Booster Mosswood aftershave is an old Canadian barbershop classic that I love. Three passes left me as smooth as silk!

I’m a huge fan of the Gillette Guard. I’ve also discovered the high quality shave Cremo can provide. I didn’t realize how great thin lather could work. Aces!

Well, this is the only De Vergulde Hand soap that I have. I am not good at describing scents. So, I did a search and found this in a review.

The scent is extremely sharp and smells something like a combination of Pine Sol and Lemon Pledge. I instantly disliked this scent, but was willing to give it a try anyway. I figured that if I couldn’t get past the scent then at last I would know if it was worth it to try the regular version. In the end I found that I loved DVH Extra Fris and was more than willing to deal with its initial scent in order to get the great results that come with the use of this excellent soap.

To me, the scent is different, but it is not bad. I guess different countries have different ideas of "fresh scent."

Razor: Yaqi V2 Excalibur AC 50mm. Mfg 2021> Great design, tame mid range, small head parts, carefree shaving mostly, one of my favorites. Work over a wash cloth because of small parts I have concluded. Great daily driver IMO.
Blade: Feather AC Professional(3) Sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity for a 50mm blade.
Soap: Razorock Don Marco, nice citrus scent on a cold winter day + excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi Goblin 24mm synthetic, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice scrub, excellent painter + great handle!
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Italian barber Amici splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion + scentless.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers = excellent shave with my Yaqi V2 Excalibur with a Feather Pro blade.

I tried out my swoopy and much beloved John & William Ragg near edge with the Baume.be. A fine shave but it turns out that after testing a variety of razors with this fine shaving cream, the shave with this near wedge razor was the least improved. The Otto Busch tops the chart for the most improved so maybe the grind has something to do with it - or, more likely, tomorrow I’d get a different result

Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears Transparent Bar Soap with Mint Extracts.
Brush: Yaqi 26mm Rainbow Brown Synthetic. (Faux Horse)
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Home Bargains Stainless Steel Side Bowl.
Lather: Edwin Jagger Limes & Pomegranate Shaving Cream.
Blade: Treet Dura Sharp. (D1)

Face & head Shave.

A new shave set up to start the Weekend....The EJ limes & pomegranate shaving cream created a wonderful lather in a short space of time leaving an excellent post shave feel.
Carrying on with the Treet Dura Sharp another carbon which i have only used a few times... I forgot how sharp & smooth these blades are near feather sharp without feeling over sharp & sometimes rough...They worked wonderfully with the R41 making a great razor & blade duo.

An invigorating 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd Essentials No9 EdP to the chest & pulse points.

My face & precious swede are feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.
