Pets are the best! When your day has been crappy, they will lift your spirits.

Am I wrong? Are Feather blades NOT the sharpest blades made? Feather will cut you if you are not careful and you won't even feel the cut! I most definitely felt the cut from this Muhle blade! OUCH! Muhle blades are now on my NOPE list!

    They should be.

Dull blades can in some cases cut you easier than sharp ones. At least I've noticed something like this with cartridges, when the cart started getting dull, I started getting more cuts. Maybe I unconsiously compensated the lack of sharpness with more pressure.

This was my thought as well. I have not cut myself with the Feathers or the Sharks or any other blade in quite a while. I felt the tug from this Muhle blade and the cut when it happened. You won't even feel the cut from a Feather unless you are really trying to cut yerself, IMHO.

Let's make the analogy with straight razors. Nothing there to "hold" the blade and yet we either get shaves with or without cuts. If you cut yourself with a straight, it's your fault not the edge's. Same goes with a DE.

Using this analogy, no blade is bad....(it was your fault)

I guess I will back away from posting my daily shave...

Fine Throwback Thursday shave. I think I am finally becoming "one" with the Albion 1925 brush I won in the last raffle. It did a nice job loading the Simpson's soap. I think this is the first time I used 3...count'em 3.....throwback products on a Throwback Thursday. I developed a small cut and 2 Knicks on the first pass, and nothing wrong on the 2nd. Thankfully the cold-water rinse and cool Vetiver(by "cool" I mean bordering on cold, not groovy, pissah, far out), aftershave knocked off the redness. Before the shave, there was so much astroturf on each side of Cactus Nation...afterwards I got it all. Good feeling. I should have done better at North Porcupine, as I tried to go North-South all around and discovered I;d better stick with South-North on the edges. I'll experiment with the aforementioned Vetiver A.S. this summer, as it certainly has enough coolness to give it a whirl. Course it isn't as cool as Osage, Aqua Velva, or the Stoylin Lime(glacial). Mennen Skin-Bracer, too. I'll say Super Duper Excellent, due to the rough beginning.

My mother gave our dog a "bath" in a public pond. Perhaps she shouldn't have, but it was good for the dog,.

Here's my take on getting cut with a DE razor. It can be due to user error by engaging the razor at an improper angle. It could be that the blade is dull because it is passed its usefulness. It could be the lather is not slick enough for the razor to glide effortlessly. It could be that beard was not properly prepped. As experienced shavers, we need to find out the reason for a subpar shave and correct it on the next shave using the same setup.

I was not at all happy with the Captian's Choice "Land Ho" cream. I seem to like the semi-soft soaps over the creams. Maybe that contributed to it.

I have only been back at using a safety razor since last September. I used nasty cartridge razors for far too long and hated shaving. I now have re-discovered the safety razor. I went a bit crazy and now own 15 razors with numerous soaps and creams. Maybe I got too excited when I found this forum. I will go into lurking and reading mode now. I got cocky thinking I know how to shave and got slammed for it. To the back row I go now...this thread is for the professionals. The photography is awesome! Mine is lacking severly so, I will stop.
