Congratulations, Joe! There are a few models, but they're all great shavers! I’m sure you’ll like the MMOC - IMHO the first and best of the breed! I remember when Joe acquired his first Gem, shortly after we met in a FB Shave group where we first met several years ago. I enticed him over here, and am so glad I did! Joe is a superb mentor, and has really done the thread proud!
Thanks, Barry! Appreciate your sharing the photo! It’s kind of funny that Kent is cheaper in limeyland! It’s more expensive here!
Razor looks to be in good shape, Joe! I enjoy shaving with mine, although I haven’t done so in awhile! Enjoy it!
Thanks Jeff! We are fortunate to have members of quality. If it wasn't for your intervention, Joe and I would never have met.
Oh, I forgot to tell another thing about today’s LI 30 DC meeting. We were chatting with our waitress and explained that Joe and I are wetshavers. I showed her my ShakeSharp and the Gem Micromatic razors. She was amazed and remembered her father using razors such as these and that her husband uses one, but with the canned goo. I told her that he was a wetshaver and that he would get better results with a brush and shave soap. We explained that we are members of The Shave Den and that our thread exchanges ideas on how to get better shaves, etc. We gave her the information on paper to give to her husband. I said we are glad to have him join us. So, we will see, but at least we got the opportunity to share our hobby and this thread.
SRS # 675 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Thiers-Issard Super Gnome Extra Brush: Shore Shave Player 26 mm Lather: Ginger’s Garden Snow Bliss Aftershave: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus Additional Care: Stirling Alum Block Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original Wonderful TI shave this morning prior to the LI Chapter of the 30DC with Joe, @Trigger. Although this meetup was shorter than our past, it was equally enjoyable. Joe brought his Shake Sharp to the meeting to show the loading procedure. I presented him with a GEM MMOC, blade and case. Now I am off to MSG to watch the New York Rangers take on the Carolina Hurricanes with my son Anthony. Hope you have a great day gentlemen.
I just jumped on a pre-sale for an Italian made razor. Razorine Flatboy. The blade lays flat in the head. CNC made brass head and stainless handle https://shavenation.com/products/razorine-flatboy-safety-razor
Congrats on a nice pickup. I am familiar with the regular razorine that can transform from a DE safety razor to a shavette. I was interested in it but you can only shave one side because of the screw so in effect, it was a like a Kamisori.
What was it about this particular razor that appealed to you, Gary? That company is well known for their open edge Razorine shaver.
The factory & shop where it's made is at the back of the house.. it's the best smelling street in West Yorkshire... Another rebranded MWF, was/is Bluebeard's revenge shaving soap..,the shave cream is still available, not sure about the soap...The higher cost of the Kent soap in the states I assume, is probably down to shipping & taxes,as always...
Thank you Joe....I came back with the Clubman brush, thinking it would be dry enough after its last use.
