  1. Well, Gary, there’s always shavettes/barber’s razors for those interested in open edge shaving, but not in traditional edge maintenance. That’s how Joe (@Trigger) got started! I have a Kai Captain clone I could ship your way along with some Feather AC “Softguard” blades if you’d like to give it a try.

  2. Thank you Barry. My Schick E3 also gives a great headshave when using Chick blades. I am sure my Gem MMOC will give me great headshaves as well.
  3. Great shave kit, photo and summary, Gary! Glad the shave went well!

  5. Glad to hear how well the shave went, Joe! They really are great shavers, but definitely not for noobs! As we say technique trumps tools, and you have that in spades! You’ve inspired me! I may break mine out in the next day or two! The Ever Ready Streamline is another Gem razor in the same class as the MMOC. Enjoy your day, my friend!
  6. Thanks, Joe! They are incredible razors, beautifully balanced. I love the Suehiro 20k edge I put on it. It’s always fun to go into bachelor mode when SWMBO’s away! You can’t argue with two nights of poker, great cigars and single malt with no finger waving! :D

  7. I have looked at the Feather offering. I am not sure if I am ready to go there yet tho. I see they do have blades for the beginner to such a razor. I must say that I am having a blast trying out new combos of razor, blade, soaps. I hate to borrow something as personal as a razor tho. Especially with how expensive these are. I may buy one at a later date.

I have looked at this one. Are these the blades you speak of?

  9. Thanks Jeff! It really is a neat razor.
  10. I can do without the cigars and will stick with diet Dr. Pepper or diet Coke. Lol!

  12. Gary, that’s a very similar razor! The one I’m offering is a “Kai Captain” Chinese clone. In all honesty, I’ve never used this particular razor! I bought it for one of my grandsons, but his father beat me to it. You need feel no obligation to me! If you like it, keep it! We call this “paying it forward” in this hobby! One of the younger guys (@Linuxguile) no longer on this thread, did the same for me several years ago.

  14. Since i was kindly passed on the Schick Type G Injector, by Jeff @jgreenepa injector razors are now my favourite choice of shaving tool for head shaving...

  16. Great! I just ask that you be patient with me. I’ll do my best to get it out over the weekend.

  17. No problem. I patiently await your gift. I already have plenty of "Toys" (with 2 more on the way) to occupy my mornings.
Shave Nation shipped my replacement Fatip wood handled open comb today. The other with the flat laying blade placement will be next week due to Geo waiting for them to arrive. I think it's a brand new razor for Razorine.

    SRS # 676

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: ERN 1820 5/8”
    Brush: JTSpartan Boar 24 mm
    Lather: Williams Mug Soap
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva (Spanish)
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Very nice classic shave this morning. The JTSpartan boar brush whipped up a nice lather following a load of about one minute on the brush in the mug. Following the load, the brush met the lather bowl to whip up the lather to a nice consistency and thickness.

The Ern razor, back fresh from the Sandpoint Spa, for a new set of scales delivered an Uber close shave. Finally, new to the den is the Spanish version of Aqua Velva. A very nice scent that tends to linger. I am not sure if I can really detect a major difference between it and the American version.

Hope you have a great day gentlemen.
