I’m not a latest and greatest guy either. I just loved my Supply V2 so much that I was curious. It was my first new safety razor purchase in almost two years. We used to have a couple of guys on this thread who always purchased the latest and greatest. But you’re spot on my limey friend. My safety razor collection is far too bloated for my use. I've been PIF’ing and selling like crazy over the last few years. Enjoy your day!

. Glad you enjoyed your shave this morning, Gary! I thought you’d said you were going to skip a day, but I certainly understand the lure of a good shave with a great shaving tool!

You got me there, Joe? Practice makes perfect! Is there something about flatblading that concerns you? Just curious? Actually the diagonal slicing strokes I now use are technique I’d never have entertained using a year or so ago. Enjoy your Saturday and try to stay dry! ;)

. Hey, bottom line is that it’s ALWAYS your shave to enjoy as you will, Gary! I spent almost half a century doing one pass canned Barbasol WTG shaves with my faithful Schick Krona before I learned to shave properly.

I don't trust my hand at sharpening a straight so, I will never be a user of these tools. I will stick to replaceable blades. I really thought this DX was a full size razor with replaceable blades but, I was told it is a "Shavette". I thought a shavette used DE blades (some broke in half). The DX uses full length blades of the injector type. I don't use the injector tho...I grab blade in fingers and manually put it in.

Excellent shave Barry!. Hope you have an enjoyable weekend. We have dreary England tyoe weather on this side of the pond. Damp, cold and just plain blah.

How would you describe the scent of the Milton Lloyd EdT

    DE Shave # 400

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Merkur 37c Slant
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Old Cahaba
    Lather: Ginger’s Garden Snow Bliss
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva (Spanish)
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

My first DE into the den, mid 1990’s acquisition, receives the honor of this mornings shave. Fitted with a GSB blade with 3 shaves under it’s belt, it delivered a super close shave without an irritation.

The Ginger’s Garden soap, is slated for the Edmund Fitzgerald treatment. I know in reality all soaps are to be finish at some point. However, given the number of soaps in the den, their demise is long off in the further. As a result, one soap has the 1508.5 Project until completion.

Traditionally, my 1508.5 Project consists of using the same soap every other day. For this month’s May focus, I modified it to just weekend shaves using the soap for both days of the weekend.

Well I hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

I like my "Slant" razors more every time I use one. Merker is one brand I have yet to try.
    Nice setup, Joe!

    good morning gents
excellent shave with the brit tech hybrid/nacet combo.
seems to improve every time,so i must be dialing it in.
a friend suggested i get the baseplate redone in nickel so it matches the chosen handle.
great idea as this is a keeper anyhow and rhodium is expensive.
the best part is that i love it's matching open comb brother, the new rfb.
if i only kept the 2 razors and moved the rest of the collection ,these would be all i need.
    ***
fine klar sport lather built with the restored ever-ready 100
    clarins splash to finish.
    awesome.
i will continue to use this and the rfb for a while longer, sans new nacet blade.
    have a great weekend everyone.

    Good morning!

    Shavette Shave #361
    Dovo Shavette
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (4)
Heritage Collection C-Mon Replica SHD Badger Brush
Gentlemen's Nod Zaharoff Signature Series SS and AS
    Maggard's Alum
    Block Dickinson's
    Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 38 hrs

It's a dreary weekend, but the weather will hit the 70 degree mark later next week.
I will be using my Dovo for a few shaves so I can even my total with my straight shave total. Ok, let me get on with the shave.

I will be using G/N Zaharoff soap more often because I want to deep six it asap. The only thing this soap has going for it is its slickness. However, I need more from a soap in regards to scent, and ease of use. I really have to drown the soap to get it to work.

However, two passes plus a minor touchup gave me a smooth, close and comfortable shave without blood loss or irritation. The alum feedback was negligible. Finished the shave in my usual way. Have a great day!

Having the edge perpendicular to the shaving surface is very risky.

Nice shave setup and pic, Joe.
So far, I have been lucky with the soaps. I have only one that I really don't like due to it's weak scent.
