Razor : Yaqi slant, Mfg 2019> This razor has that jaws look and looks a aggressive and it is, a seasoned technique and with a steep angle and short handle I like to use when riding the bar when using this shaving angle method .
The razor likes a gentle touch with good placement and it just works wonderfully IMO. This razor is for those fellows who enjoy blade feel and it will not disappoint. The 1st shave with it was fairly smooth with no issues at all. Good challenge for myself, I placed a shim underneath also to support blade better for any chatter and I guess it adds a little more aggression in theory. Not a daily driver for most folks IMO. Newbies might want to avoid using this razor until their technique has matured IMO.
Blade : Gillette 7oClock SP(2) sharp & smoooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : Razorock Lavender, nice scent with excellent lather qualities. (discontinued [IMG])
Brush : Yaqi 22 mm 2 band badger Sagrada Familia, excellent lather generator, soft pillow like tips, nice scrub, excellent lather painter. This little brush is just a joy to use and not a lather hog at all + one of my favorites.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave :Alum test showed minor stinging + Razorock King Louis lavender with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper=[IMG] Excellent shave with my 1st use Yaqi Slant with a Gillette 7oClock SP. You can not get a closer shave using this razor blade combination even with a shavette with a naked blade possibly IMO.

I’m not crazy about the grommet but I love the blade :happy036: Finally finished the tub of Castle Forbes 1445 shave cream which I really enjoyed - great lather and a very pleasant scent, almost like root beer.

    Lovely shave!

Any idea why Gillette made a black-handled gold Tech during WW2?

I could understand a black or drab-colored razor for troops in the field, and I could understand if they had to substitute for materials that were scarce, like brass and nickel. But gold with a black handle???

The only thing I can think is maybe Gillette was just using up parts already on hand and painted the handles black. Not sure if these were for the service or for civilian use.

The Williams Mug Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #432 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Slim Adjustable Razor with a Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Lilac Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Wednesday morning’s Grand Freeze:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Junjie/Wilkinson Sword day 3
    Stirling Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo SS
    Prep ASB
    Osage Rub AS Splash

Warm weather has come to us finally so I’ll be using my strongest menthol stuff for the rest of the week. The Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo soap has such a magnificent scent which is a carbon copy of Stirling’s Sharp Dressed Man and Creed’s Green Irish Tweed, the tallow formula promotes such super slick, rich lather, the menthol sensation is strong enough to give a polar bear pneumonia, and the skincare is so brilliant. The Prep and the Osage Rub aftershave made my skin feel born again and so frozen. Three passes resulted in a perfect BBS shave that I enjoyed from beginning to end!

Enjoy your day and your shaves - be well and safe![IMG]
