SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, MAY 11, 2022

It’s definitely warming up as the days pass. Not much to report today, other than another superb mug and noggin shave featuring the Smith Bros. 11/16 straight and the Leresche 51 Lux safety razors respectively. Work continues on the TR6. It’s quite slow and aggravating having to wait for my son and grandson to return from work each day so we can recommence work. Oh well, at least I’m porcelain smooth from noggin to neck!

RAZOR: Smith Bros. of Boston 11/16 (Mug), Leresche 51 Lux (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: BG Custom 22mm Two Band Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite.

  10. Things have changed noticeably even since I was in school. I'm 28 yo.
  11. GilletteTechs are good solid shavers, as our resident Tech Guru (@brit) would tell you. I have but one, but it’s a solid shaver. Haven’t used it in a long time! Great shave, Daniel!
  12. Great shave, Gary! The key to avoiding alum burn with any razor comes down to lightness of touch. You should also make sure you’re skin stretching as well! Enjoy your day!

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Thistle 5/8”
Brush: Leo Frilot Custom NYR 26 mm Synthetic
    Lather: Stirling Weekend in Malibu
    Aftershave: Stirling Weekend in Malibu
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

As the weather gradually warms I felt that the summer scent of “Weekend in Malibu” was in order for todays shave. The scent profile is as follows: “With a wonderful mixture of citrus, vanilla, sandalwood, and lily of the valley, this scent is a great balance of freshness and musk.” This is a very refreshing scent.

I did my usual three pass shave. The lather provided the customary Stirling slickness which enhance the blade’s ability to mow down this morning’s whiskers. Post shave alum report was noticeably silent.

I hope you all have a great day gentlemen.
  15. Beastmode! Awesome “Blue” shave Joe.
  16. DG to the front of the class. Awesome ll around Gary.
  17. Thanks, Jeff! Techs are good razors. I had two, but gifted the other one to my friend.

  20. It’s cleaver time! God bless you, Joe! Better you than me, buddy! If you ever tire of teaching, you can always work part-time as a butcher! You wouldn’t even have to buy any tools! Hey, here’s an idea for a comparable shave!
