Sorry to hear about the MWF mishap, Gary! Stuff happens, although it sounds like your shave didn’t suffer! Great work with the DX! Although I don’t shave with the Proguard, 5-7 shaves with a Feather Super is about it for me! Hope your day improves!
Sorry about the cut and the shattering of the bowl. Despite the horrid start, you kept your cool and had a nice shave Hogie.
I have a fresh blade in it for the next shave. I hadta try it out so, I did strop the Jones & Co SR and did one WTG pass on my cheeks. It took some off and didn't nick but, it did tug a LOT!!! It needs freshening on the stone when it gets here. I won't try that 6/8 Gold Dollar tho. Even tho the edge looks better, it is wider. The Jones is a 5/8. I see it is possible now. I am getting used to the DX. That Jones will be a nice shaver!
I am simply amazed at how close that DX with the ProGuard blades gets me!!!! Simply amazing. But, now, I have to wait 2 days to shave again!
May 18 SOTD Good morning! Shavette Shave #364 Dovo shavette Personna Hairshaper Blade (8) MrEE LE#10 Cashmere Brush Stirling Christmas Eve SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 37 hrs I decided to have Christmas in May with Stirling Christmas Eve SS. It is a great scent and despite the title I use it throughout the year. I like to go against conventional thinking and shave with any soap at any time. Stirling soaps always performs above its price point. It gives a rich, creamy and slick lather if your soap/water ratio is correct. This soap can drown and still will give you an awesome lather. Did 2 passes and did some minor touchups by the mouth corners. Did not cut myself and irritation was nowhere to be found. Amost forgot, the quality of the shave was just shy of BBS. The alum gave very little feedback. Witch hazel and then the glorious, matching aftershave ended this nice shave. I smell clean and refreshed. Have a nice day!
I had lather on my face already. I had to run downstairs for a bandage. Yes, shave went well. I get super close in 2-passes. The only spot I need to conquer with the DX is my right jawline. That area is tough to get!
Not a pleasant start but still a good shave, Hogie! Awesome shave, Joe! I'm with you on shaving with any soap any time.
Thank you Hogie. I think with 25 razors in your den, I would have to agree with you. Lol! However, the green insert for using Personna blades, doesn't come with the razor any longer. You get the clear insert ( used to be red) for using 1/2 DE blades. The green inserts are no longer made, so you have to hunt on the net to find them.
Thanks Daniel. I feel that if you like the soap, then use it whether it's seasonally appropriate or not.
I will be doing a video shortly on how to get the jawline smooth. It is an advanced technique, but if you can do it, then it may solve your issue with the jawline.
This Jones & Co will be a nice shaver once it's honed. The Witte & Co will be as well. The Witte will be one to be more careful with due to that corner not being rounded.
My Tech is a nice mild razor too but, it got my jawline BBS. I do like my aggressive DE razors the best.
my most aggressive razor is my brit red tip,or my slim adjustable on 9,which i rarely do.they both offer fantastic shaves, though will bite if one doesn't respect them.i have also painted myself into a corner so to speak.after spending a good chunk of $$ on my british gillettes i have to use them.a "better" shaver would upset the apple cart per se,deaming them inadequate.so i make the best i can with what i have.
