This morning’s shave! Grabbed a soap from the unused pile that I remembered liking! Very nice lather, but the scent gives the bride problems. Fortunately, she left for the office! Enjoy your shaves, I sure did! Nothing like breaking out a new bottle of the “Rub” on a hot, sunny day!

RAZOR: Genco 35 6/8 (Mug), Gillette Big Fellow (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: JR Custom Rosewood Handled Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Nuavia Blue
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub AS Splash.

Shave #2 for this 140 yr. old razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that gave me BDBS results. Zero issues. So far, this is looking at being a very good razor.

Razor- Manhattan Cutlery Co. Near Wedge grind.
    Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot.
    Soap- ARKO
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Willy's Jeep decanter

Le Grelot, soap was La Toja lathered with a SOC boar, and Harris Pink finished up a super shave. The razor is a nicely done refurb, light wear but horn scales which is a nice upgrade.

Shave #3 from an old Sheffield razor. The edge seemed not as smooth as the days before. Perhaps the blade, or the preparation. I will try one more shave, before sending it back. I did end up with a DFS, after two passes. It was still very smooth, on the ATG pass.

    Razor- Manhattan Cutlery Co. Sheffield
Brush- "The Brush", B-400. By Tom(@twhite ). Omega Boar knot.
Soap- More For You. Turkey. It is like Arko in a tub, but an even richer lather.
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

The MK 32 is a fine razor and one worth waiting for. I only wish I hadn’t failed to ask @gssixgun to polish the tang and tail where there are some blemishes. For those of you who like doing restorations, how difficult would it be to polish that out? Bear in mind I’m not the most physically skilled or patient :chores016:

Sandpaper progression, and a buffing wheel. You would probably loose your edge, and it would need to be sharpened again, unless you taped the edge. Not hard to do, if you have done it before.

The second razor of the Touron-Parisot set was up today, soap was MdC rose lathered with a Semogue Galahad, and D.R. Harris Pink finished up a rosy shave.

Tomorrow’s going to be a different kind of shave! I’ll be using a Japanese Pechika 3/8 which arrived unhoned. This morning it went from the Chosera 1k, to the Shapton 1.5k, Shapton 5k, Shapton 8k, Chosera 12k, and was finished on the Gokumyo 20k. It poppin’ hairs and styrofoam. There’s a myth out there that narrow blades are unsuited for heavy beards. I have a heavy beard, and believe that sharp is sharp, and that any well honed blade, regardless of width will cut keratin fiber (i.e. hair follicles). We’ll see!

RAZOR: F. Herder 49 15/16 (Mug), Rex Adjustable (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot
    CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature Scent Gel and a very light Alt-Innsbruck AS Splash.

I agree - an edge on a narrow blade is the same as one on a wide blade. However, the heft of a heavier razor when shaving a thick beard is a different experience than with the lighter narrow blade. Both get the job done, just a different experience requiring a different technique for each. At least, that is my experience :happy088:

Agreed, Karl! I just really like the maneuverability of thinner blades! This will be my first shave with a 3/8. It’s certainly sharp enough! Looking forward to tomorrow’s shave!
