Pretty good shave! I got bbs but with some drag & tugging. It was a new blade so im sure it wasnt that. Ive experienced this with a couple of Rotbarts. The soap smells great and just remembers shaving with a sample i had and enjoyed the scent. So im glad i got it.

Jeff, I think your shave was colder than mine. This jar I would rate around 4/10 as it is not as chilly as I expected it to be when I bought it years ago.

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Lynx Africa Body Wash.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Chantry Lavender Goat's Milk Bar Soap.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Sagrada Familia Synthetic.
    Face Lather.
    Lather: Proraso Blue Shaving Cream.
    Blade : Schick Japanese Twin.(D3)
    Razor: Schick Injector I1. 1955-58

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils.3 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Brut Sport Style ASL./Nivea Men Fresh Kick ASB.

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave.

The Schick Injector I1& Japanese Twin blade continued to perform with smooth mild efficiency.

The Proraso Blue shaving cream created a nice creamy slick protective lather with only a small amount in a short space of time The residual slickness is excellent leaving a superb post-shave from the addition of the aloe vera and vitamin E making my mature skin feel soft & moisturized after the shave.

A enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small dollop's of Nivea Men Fresh Kick ASB.

My face is feeling cool smooth, & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Still probably the smoothest razor I own. It's been sitting neglected for about 2 years (shame on me) and had developed spots of surface corrosion, but they sanded right off.

    Buon giorno cari amici!

    Tuesday morning’s Italian style shave:

    Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Wash
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Junjie/Wilkinson Sword day 14
    Cella SS
    Fino ASB
    English Leather AS Splash

It’s been something like two years since I’ve used the Cella soap so I decided to pull it out this morning and I’m so happy I did. I didn’t realize it until now that it’s tallow based so the lather works up so thick, rich, and slick, the scent is a beautiful raw almond, and the skincare is so soothing. This is one of the best soaps from Italy that I ever used. The Fino balm is a terrific balm from South Africa - it’s completely unscented not to mention how soothing and moisturizing it is. Do I ever love the English Leather aftershave - the scent is so old school and classy. The Wilkinson Sword blade struggled during my second pass so I couldn’t go any further but I still ended up with a good BBS shave!

Enjoy your day and your shaves - be well and safe!

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, MAY 24, 2022

Sort of a nostalgic walk down memory lane with my noggin shave this morning. I spent 50 years shaving with the same Schick Krona until it broke in 2018. Bought it at the MCX in ‘68, and shaved with it through college, graduate school, four kids and two marriages. Shaving for me, except for maybe the last five years with it, was just a quick WTG pass using Barbasol right out of the can. Just part of the morning ritual that I had to get through.

I varied my AS between Old Spice, Aqua Velva, and Mennen Skin Bracer over those years. My son made me aware of the various online shave forums around 2010 where I lurked, and learned about whisker grain and multi-pass shaves. But I didn’t settle down at TSD until almost a decade later. I liked the membership there, the knowledge base, the lack of pretension, and the outright friendliness.

For whatever reason I collected as many versions of that Schick DE as I could fron the Eversharp to the Krona. One of the gems of that collection is the 1976 Gold plated Bicentennial edition which I shaved with this morning. All versions pretty much have the same feel and deliver a decent shave. My new Simpson Chubby 3 whipped up a prodigious amount of MWF lather that the Krona easily glided through in the usual two ATG passes leaving me nicely smooth.

The highlight of this morning’s shave was the NOS Bartmann 86 11/16. I really enjoy shaving with this razor. It’s sharp and butter smooth. The brand wasnin business fo exactly 50 years, from 1948 to 1998 in Solingen, Germany. After a brief touch up on the Chosera 12k followed by a final polish on the Suehiro Gokumyo 20k last night, the quality of my mug shave was a foregone conclusion. Three passes was all she wrote leaving me velveteen smooth from neck to noggin.

RAZOR: Bartmann 86 11/16 (Mug), Schick Krona Bicentennial Edition (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Simpson LE Chubby 3 Sovereign Fibre
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS Splash.
