  1. Great post Hogie! It's very rare that we get tagged like you did this morning. It's part of the learning process on how to use that razor. Btw, I used lavender this morning. Great minds think alike. Have am awesome day!

I too feel a lot younger on my good days. Yesterday was a good day. Me? I am 66 going on 50! LOL

  3. A fine opener to another "Throwback Week". About 0:50 at the loading dock as the Clubman brush went to work in concert with the Stoylin Sheep soap. I didn't mention this in the SOS write-up, but I flipped in a few drops of Stoylin Frost-Drops before beginning the loading. This time they looked more like DROPS(as they normally should)than Niagra Falls. I liked that. As I load the soap, I not only go left to right, but sometimes back and forth, which seems to pick up more soap. Nice "paint job" all over. Cheeks&sideburns checked in as great. Porcupine the same, although once again I had to go real slow up the NW side(left). Paid a little more attention to that tricky spot I described yesterday(between the right ear and jawline)and got it. Better job down at Cactus Nation than in previous shaves. Mennen Skin Bracer for the A.S., and Passion 4 Men cologne to close. Outta This World Excellent (let's hope ALL my shaves on this Throwback Week" are like that).
  4. I never did like Roger Miller....I am more of a Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard kinda guy. Even some John Prine! OLD country music.
  5. Right, Miller sounds more like a "dig it" singer. Rosanne Cash's old man is/was great. Never heard of Prine. I agree...let's bring back the OLD TIME country. I love Emmylou Harris-sort of a mix of old time with a little rock&roll. Where are the fiddles in this current thing they call "country music"???????
  6. Rosanne has some good stuff too! "Blue Moon With Heartache" off this album (I have it) is a fav

  7. Thanks Hogie. If I didn't start my fitness journey 6 1/2 years ago, then I wouldn't feel the way I do now or probably much worse. I am grateful to God that I have a healthy body and mind and spirit. We are both mavericks in our own way.

  8. Nice session Paul! Every shave should be like today’s. Enjoy your day.

  9. I just sat down and figured out how to play that song! It's in the key of "B" or capo 2 and play A position which gives you key of B. Emotional song so, it would be a hard one to sing to. But, I can play it! I still have my ear!

  10. I saw Emmy Lou Harris live in an outdoor concert in Minnesota back in the early 1980's. Marshall Tucker too!

EDIT: OOPS! Not MT, I saw Charlie Daniels Band!
  11. thank you Joe.:):eatdrink047:

i plan to use this razor for a bit,
    knock the dust off.
fresh blade tomorrow.the nacet performed well enough but had more than 3 shaves on it.
slight warmth with the alum stick.
carbon blades were the norm in this razor's heyday but modern stainless work just fine.

    have a great day everyone.

  16. You have all the really neat razors, Gary! Not that I need any more open comb razors tho...I think I have them pretty well covered now. LOL:happy005:
I have the last of the Micromatics arriving today. I have enuff now to do a whole week comparing them. The Hawk too! I may tame the Hawk and use the Standard head or put a ProGuard blade in. I have a lot of the Professional blades now (3 packs) so, I will use them with the standard head. I will have to find a happy medium for for the open comb when it comes to blade/head combo. It was more aggressive than I expected this morning. Being a heavy razor, I will have to use a lighter touch instead of letting the weight of the razor do the work. Or try riding the cap more. I still have to tame this beast!

    Nice setup & shave!

  17. thank you Gary.this one is basically the same as your new lc.just the british version.during these years the brit gillette company was able to be a little creative and do their own thing, not just copy U.S models.a little like Ford and GM in Canada before 1969.no GTO's,but cool Beaumonts.etc.
may i suggest you use one razor/blade for a few days to get the feel of it and learn it's perimeters.;):eatdrink047:

  18. Early 80's, eh? That is when I first heard of her. Did she have The Hot Band with her? You lucky dog. As for Charlie Daniels, he does kind of the same as Emmylou, right?(Mix of Country with some Rock and Roll)
  19. I would try the Treet Carbon Steel blades in that razor, Gary. I like these blades. They are black
