  4. Today's shave was VERY pleasant! The Bullet Tip Micromatic shaved very nice. 2-pass shave with cleanup. This Micromatic Monday was pleasant.

This is my first shave with this Micromatic. 4th shave with the blade was nice.
    Preshave was Proraso White.
Shave soap was Mitchell's Wool Fat whipped in my lather bowl created some really nice cream.
Razor was my new to me Micromatic with the bullet tip.
I used the resurrected "Perfecto" brush and it performed well.

I prepped my face by washing with Ivory bar soap and then warmed face with hot washcloth while I bloomed the soap with hot water. It did not take long to get loads of lather rolling out of the mug with the MWF puck into my lather bowl. Whipped for less than a minute gave me nice creamy lather. I shaved WTG & ATG with cleanup along my jawline. Very smooth! I got zero feedback from the alum bar.

I used the last of the cream and brush squeezings to wash my face again and covered my dome to shave it with the Micromatic. I ran back to front and side to side to get all the stubble.

I ended up with a very nice shave. No cuts, nicks, or errors. A dab of balm and a splash of Pinaud Vanilla AS.

It was a very pleasant shave with the closed comb. Tomorrow it's the Open Comb Micromatic!
I hope all have a fine day!

  5. Marvelous Monday Maiden Micromatic Shave Hogie! I have the Micromatic Open Comb courtesy of Joe Carbone and it's quite efficient. You definitely need a light touch with this razor. The razor is light so one has a tendency to put more pressure on it while shaving. Looking forward to your review on it. Enjoy your day!
  6. I want to use the Wool Fat all week. This puck lasts! I have another with a new ceramic bowl but want to finish the puck that I put into the mug when I dropped the bowl in my sink and shattered it! I put it on top of a puck that was unscented and I was not too fond of. The MWF will fix that! So, it will take me a while to finish this first puck. I have 2 lids now due to my broken jar and the new replacement and I have noticed that the lids are not the same! One has a large ledge that holds it onto the jar while the other is smaller.

How long does MWF puck normally last?

The one razor that may bite is the Featherweight. It is so light, I have t figure out how much pressure to use. So, I plan on using it on Thursday & Friday to tame it!

  7. Thank you Jeff....as I've been saying, the brushless cream is a work in prOHgress.
  8. 5th Day of "Throwback Week" went pretty good. I brought out the Simpsons "cream in a tub." About 0:40 at the loading dock with the Stoylin "No-Name" brush. Fine job all over, but for a cut in the middle of South Porcupine(chin) and a "polka-dot" at the jawline bordering the left cheek and Cactus(Neck). Those were the only 2 problems. The left side of N. Porcupine had its usual "buttered toast" sound(must mean that is the first area to grow hair, should I decide to try a mustache again). Aqua Velva for the A.S., and I'm still working on trying to avoid a Niagra Falls persuasion(getting better at it, though). . Passion 4 Men once again to finish. Different cologne for the next few days. Maybe I'll do one cologne per week. Very Excellent for this morning.

    SE Shave # 264 - MICROMATIC & DARKFALL MONDAY

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Brush: Jayaruh 329 Boar
    Lather: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Aftershave: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Humphreys Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel

Most excellent MMBT & Darkfall shave this morning. I have lost track of the number of shaves on this blade as it has not shown any signs of diminishing returns. As a result, I will continue with this blade for a few more shaves. My best guess as to the number of shaves on the blade is about 11. My face feels smooth and velveteen following the usual three pass shave. The Jayaruh boar brush produces a wonderful lather and feels great upon the face and neck during application.

Currently, I am sitting out in the backyard relaxing after my X3Bar Push workout waiting for the electrician to arrive. I need to have wiring put in for the eventual installation of a 30 amp electric hot water heater.
The missus and Anthony are off from school today for another newly imposed Federal holiday. However, they hav even tasked with taking the dogs to the vet as they appear to be suffering from seasonal allergies.

Hope you have a great day gentlemen.

  12. Great shave line up for the week Hogie. Be mindful that the Micromatics can bite, especially the OC, if you are not mindful of your technique. If you manage you technique you will be rewarded with phenomenal shave every time.

  13. My that is one expensive shave since you used all of that stuff up in one shave. Talk about fast tracking the den reduction.

    Great shave Joe. :eatdrink013:
