  3. Filarmonica 14 DT with a Nakayama maru-ka kiita edge from one of Alex Gilmore’s stones from years ago, just sublime. Pre-shave and cream were SMN lathered with an oscar11 brush, and a bit of Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished up a fine Sunday shave.

  6. Good day all. It's been a while and I hope everyone has been well.

Due to illness and medication, I was forced to stop using razors. Only electric, Broke my heart. Simply loved the experience of using a good hot lather and exceptional straight razor I refurbished and brought back to use.

Well, last week I was taken off blood thinners. Now I can return to the joy of wet shaving.

Today was a two day growth. Needed a good heavier blade. Decided on the Beaujue Aine. Sterling Shaving Soap and a Boar Hair brush. Good shave. took my time due to a years absence. Skin needs to readjust as well, but still a good shave. Not even a nick.

  9. Late evening shave today, with a Ukrainian made razor. This wonderfully made 8/8 inch razor smoothly wiped away 10 days of growth, in two passes. This left me with a BDBS results.

    Razor- Gipson Razor "Alvaro". Ukraine
Brush- Rubberset 400 #4. Original boar knot.
    Soap- Stirling Spicy
Aftershave- Florida Water. Because I just got back from Florida, last night.

  10. Welcome back! I went to electric shaving more than 10 years ago after being put on blood thinners. Somehow, somewhere I decided I could risk shaving with a blade and never when back. Nicks do bleed longer and easier but the cuts are small enough that there’s never been a serious risk and the healing time is acceptable. If the cut is a deeper than usual it becomes an inconvenience with toilet paper on my face for an hour or two waiting for it to finally scab over. Not suggesting anyone else try it as every case is different but I also know I am not alone in defaulting to a more satisfying shave over standard safety precautions. Glad you are able to be off the meds and not have to make that trade. :happy088:
  11. Welcome back Claude!

C.V.H. No 130, software was I Coloniali Mango oil and the brush was a Vie Long boar. What a wonderful soap and balm, shame that it’s discontinued. The scent is basicallo Old Spice with guaiac wood and frankincense replacing the spice component.

  16. Got out my own Case 6/8 133 Red Imp, touched up the edge, and had a great shave with the I Coloniali software and a Zenith boar. I got this razor right here on TSD’s Classifieds from drygulch.

  17. It's a "Smiling Razor Day". This is one I restored, a while back, and decided to put it back in rotation. I had a super smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Just a couple of little weepers. This Tungsteel sure can get sharp. Btw, there are no imperfections on the blade, it's just shadows.

Razor- Shumate "Tungsteel" St Louis Missouri. USA.
Brush- Rubberset 400 #4. Original Boar knot.
Soap- Tobac. Super slick and thick. Nice scent.
Aftershave- Florida Water. Perfect for a hot summer day.
