  4. Nice setup Hogie. Sorry that the new OC razor did not behave. Perhaps with a now used blade it may perform better the next time.
  5. Thank you. I was not insulted at all. I was just having some fun. I’m glad you’re keeping this tradition alive!
    Have fun!

  6. I am glad because I was a little concerned. Btw, I missed your straight razor posts. Since you left, I have acquired a 10/8 Sprecher and a 13/8 razor by a Ukrainian artisan named Yuri. Keith @Keithmax had some influence on me with his large straights.

    SRS # 714 - JustOneJulyWeekdays-Soap

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Martens HDW Co. 11/16” Kingwood scales
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
Lather: Blackship Grooming Company La Concorde
Aftershave: Black Ship Grooming Co. La Concorde
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Humphreys Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

After some serious thought, not really, I have opted for the JustOneJulyWeekdays-Soap approach for the month. Using this approach will allow me some flexibility if I do choose for the other aspects of the shave.

Given Joe’s, @Trigger, suggestion of incorporating a patriotic theme all aspects of this shave except possibly the razor was “Made in America”. The razor may receive honorable mention as the stamp on the razor is Martens HDW (Marten Hardware).

I had a wonderfully close three pass shave although I did manage a knick on the upper lip near the left nostril. No worries, the post shave routine took care of it.
Here is the lathered brush. Blackship Grooming is a very nice soap.

  10. Nice setup, Joe!
I had to cool off so, I went for a ride to my favorite italian restaurant. My fav waitress wasn't there but another I know was. She likes my cat and said that everybody calls her the "Crazy Cat Lady" because she always has several cats. LOL It was nice ride. Weather may crap for tomorrow...

It's Fatboy Friday and since it goes along with Patriotic month, I decided to bring mine out to start the month. Yes, I did another bowl lather and I used Shannon's Soaps The Warrior in keeping with this month's theme. I have decided that I will bowl lather this soap henceforth because it's easier to lather this soap with this method. It does produce a nice, slick, low structure lather and that is fine with me. Here is the lather:

I did a 2.5 pass with pickups which tells me that the blade is near the end of its usefulness. However, I did get an errorless BBS shave.

Did get some alum feedback, but it was not terribly painful. Witch hazel and the refreshing Proraso Green aftershave topped off this nice shave. Tomorrow will be a no shave day and Sunday will be a straight razor shave. It probably will be one of my Dovo straights. Have a great day!

Great Friday shave. I had forgot how good of a little shaver the Yaqi Mellon head is.

I'll be working through my self lubricating open comb razors this month.
