:signs001: Joe... The Palmolive classic was my first shaving soap when I introduced myself to the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving, and was an instant all time favourite, hence my TSD member name 'Palmolive Fox' the fox is part of my surname...Once a very inexpensive widely available shave stick, since it was discontinued in the UK, its now on offer at extortionate criminally insane prices...However, before it was finally discontinued I purchased 20 sticks at 50p/ 80 cents (approx) each, now one is on offer on eBay offer for 8-9 pound / 8.9 dollars each + shipping...Sheer utter, greed.

I changed things up this morning and used my shavette that Jeff gifted to me with a ProGuard blade. I got a bit more feedback from the alum bar but, no cuts, nicks, or weepers so, I am doing well with the shavette. I plan on using the Feather DX all weekend

    Proraso White pre-shave cream
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Simpson Trafalgar T3 brush
Thayers Aloe & Witch Hazel Pinaud Clubman "Vanilla" AS

Bloomed soap & warmed the lather bowl with HOT water. Washed face with Ivory bar soap and warmed face with HOT washcloth. Today I used only the MWF and still got rich lather. I really like the Wool Fat! 3-pass shave WTG, ATG, XTG with minor cleanup. I had to work a bit harder on my right jawline (my tough spot) to get close and the alum bar let me know I made a couple too many passes. But, no cuts so, I call this excellent! Really light touch even got my upper lip BBS close! Either my lip has toughened up or I am better with the pressure! I usta cut my lip all the time! I shave the upper lip WTG, and XTG and it is nice and smooth!

My face is super smooth and smellin' nice!

I hope all have a great Friday! TGIF!

Fab Friday shave Hogie. As far as your mastering the upper lip, I would say it's both things that are at work here. Enjoy your day.

My MWF always looks like it's never been used, even though I've had a few shaves with it.

I swirl my brush for between 30 seconds and a minute and then push all the lather in the mug into my Shave Nation lather bowl. Between that and the loaded brush, all I need to do is swirl the brush for maybe a minute to create really thick, rich lather. I like to experiment with blends too by adding a spoon of cream soap to the mix. I have enuff for 4-5 passes! LOL But, it is nice for my face to wash it with the leftover lather after a 3-pass shave. These soaps have pretty much eliminated my red face due to roseacea. It's gotta be the tallow and fats in the soaps being better for me than the propylene glycol based can foam. I discovered that I am allergic to PG when I used an eCig to quit smoking. That stuff congested me BAD! Maybe the skin is allergic to it as well!

I simply LOVE these old fashioned soaps made the old way with animal fats just like granny did in the Beverly Hillbillies with her big cast iron pot over the fire! LOL (am I streetching things a bit?) ;)

It looks like Doc Ezlovan enlarged the shot of the barber doing his work.

Great shave today-2 passes, no Knicks, cuts, or red polka-dots. 0:50 at the loading dock for the brush to get a good amount of the Stoylin Sheep soap. The newsworthy thing is that during the 2nd pass, I dropped the brush into the sink water, and amazingly some of the soap was still on the brush after it submerged. But I still went over to re-load. The Mennen Skin Bracer was good as always, as was the finishing touch-again the Mutamayez from the House of Swiss Arabia. Super-Duper Excellent.

Thanks Gary, I'll do at least a minute of swirling when I get around to the MWF(should be next week sometime. )

I have to agree that ever since I have used tallow soaps that my skin looks better.

I pre-heat my brush and bowl at the same time and shake out the excess water from the brush. If I need to, I add tiny bits of HOT water and continue the swirling. You will get the hang of figuring out when and how much water is needed. I seem to have it figured out now. The Shave Nation ceramic bowl has rough areas in the bottom that really helps make the lather.
