…that is, the law of gravity. On Monday afternoon, I was headed out of the house, when I lost my footing on the bottom step & face-planted on the concrete. Ouch! The good news is that the Fall detection feature on my Apple Watch works. I fell & it called 911. Given that I hit my head, a trip to the ER seemed like a good idea. I had a CT scan which showed no brain injuries, thankfully. But my lips are swollen and my face looks like I have been through a boxing match…or possibly a blender. Lots of abrasions and possible a small fracture of my left elbow. It was hard to be sure from the x-rays (read by the ER doc’s and later, my orthopedist). So I had a CT scan of the elbow today. I will know more in a few days. If someone can find some gravity and beat it up for me, I’d be really grateful.
I thought about punching my local stairs in retaliation, Sara. I didn't do it, but I briefly thought about it, and it's the thought that counts, right? Get well soon!
...on the BRIGHT side, Sara -- having a swollen face and swollen lips won't effect your shaving routine. Imagine how terrible it would have been if you'd injured or bruised your LEGS! Hope you have a speedy recovery! ;-) - Bax
@wristwatchb handrails ar always a good idea. But having seen the video of my fall (caught by my Ring camera) this is one of those falls where a handrail would have only made it worse. I’d have likely dislocated my shoulder. Since I’m posting, first let me thank all of you for the kind & caring words. Next, a story I think you will appreciate. We had long-standing plans, this week, for a trip to Lancaster, PA. Despite my injuries, we went (I’m still there) as I didn’t think I’d recover any better sitting on my bum at home. So A)hubby got his archery instructor’s certificate and B) I am coming home with a big box full of empty wooden cigar boxes. As they are useful, and we were walking past a cigar shop, we went in to ask if we could purchase some empties. The owner showed me one & asked if I liked it. I did, & asked him how much he charged. I think that the idea of charging for them hadn’t occurred to him, so he said I could just have it. In fact, as he was reorganizing, he offered me a case of them, which we happily accepted. He just wanted them out of the way, so I got a whole lot of them for free. As neither of us smokes, we purchased a lighter -always handy for bow & arrow maintenance-since it seemed the least we could do.
Glad to hear the fall hasn't kept you down. Way to get up and get going! Congrats to your hubby. Wooden cigar boxes aren't cheap whenever I've come across them. I stopped smoking cigars several years ago. The shops I went to would sell them, usually $5-$10 each.
I got an empty cigar box from a local cigar shop near me, and turned it into a three string guitar. It works great, and looks cool! Now if I only had some skill to go with it... - Bax
Hi again. Just an update- I will see my orthopedist again in Wednesday and my dentist tomorrow. (One tooth, while not in severe pain, is tender from the fall. Best to get it checked.)
