  1. This morning's shave wasn't as good as recent ones, but still OK. The MWF was tricky, giving me a better shave on the second pass than first. Better in the sense that I got more soap on and less water. Hard to figure out that MWF(I say, anyway). One cut(jawline), no Knicks, no Polka-dots. Fine job most everywhere (save for the jawline cut). The Osage aftershave was niice and chilly. Pierre Cardin cologne to close. Very Excellent.

  2. Now they they have the bodywashes, I go for them if I feel like washing my body Stoylin-style and setting up my face and neck for the shave. In fact, the Sharp Dressed Man bodywash is a nominee in this year's Stoylin Tony Awards, Aas for MWF, that's a good idea for me-use it in the shower as a shave "prep". I'm slowly losing confidence in it as an "out-of-shower" prep.

  7. I just may do that, Gary.....and it's a shame since many here like it.

  8. The Star E-R , & Gem 1912 are all basically the same razor and are fantastic smooth shavers, which every traditional wet shaver should try if given the opportunity...I really like the design of them too.;)

  10. I've been known to "use up" less than favorite shave soaps for handwashing or in the shower, Paul. I wouldn't trash a soap unless it had a really bad scent.

I had better success with MFW by grating up the puck and pressing it into a shave stick. Apparently I wasn't loading my brush sufficiently off the puck. When I used it as a shave stick, I applied more soap to my face and it worked great. You might try increasing your brush load time and see if that helps.

  11. I have been following along this month, and I'm inspired by all the bowl lathering. This is something I've never done, as I always face lather. I may have to give this a try.

  16. Thanks Joe....I think the Osage saved the day. Course Pete Cardin's cologne assisted in that persuasion-Pete deserves some credit.

  18. Here's the MWF udate-I flipped(trashed) it. @wristwatchb, thanks for your suggestion about making it work better for me. I guess I'm not the "creative" type. Williams met the same result about a year ago. I've decided it's time to love all things involved in shaving. Can't say that about MWF&Williams, as I struggled too much with both, popular as they are with many.

  19. One July -- One Humankind

Life events have kept me from providing updates on the July 30/3o, but I am still enjoying razors made in the United States. I wanted to share with you all my experience with Carbon Shaving Co. Cx 316L and Cx Ti razors. I received them last week on loan as part of a pass-around in another shave-neighborhood. Here are my thoughts on these excellent razors. Pictured below is the stainless steel 316L on left, Titanum on right.

    IMG_20220716_084014892.jpg

The original plate is very comfortable and brings a nice level of efficiency. The + plate reduces blade exposure and increases gap. Both plates easily gave me a very comfortable and satisfying shave in two passes. I did not notice much difference in efficiency or blade feel between the original and + plates. The increased gap is much more to my liking, especially on a head shave as it increases the effective shaving angle.

    IMG_20220711_201459121.jpg

The Ti ++ hits my sweet spot. My go-to DE head shaving razor is the Henson medium; vintage Schick injectors are a close second on the dome. I very much prefer high efficiency and lighter weight when shaving the solar panel. The Carbon Ti ++ is an ideal light weight. The increase in efficiency is right where I like it, and the feel is super smooth; absolutely no harshness. Gave great results on face shave as well.

    IMG_20220714_200521662.jpg

My final shave this morning was with both ++ plates, SS on the face, Ti on the dome. The razors are a joy to behold and a joy to use. They are very comfortable in the hand, well balanced, and the most "aggressive" ++ provided me with a comfortable shaving experience. There is a low level of blade feel that I enjoy, but not at all menacing. The Ti is very lightweight, and is probably my overall preferred razor. The web plates are visually stunning, and the reduced weight is a great benefit to the 316L.

I am getting ready to go to a church singles social so I thought I would shave even though I look ok. Hey, any excuse to shave will do. Lol!

I picked out Music City Lavender because it is a fantastic frag and it's not going to offend anyone. Well, I have 2 hrs before the gathering so the scent will die down.
It has always given me a nice lather and doing it in the bowl is no exception. I made enough to do a headshave with my ShakeSharp (not pictured) so that I really look my best. Here is the lather pic:

    20220716_151624.jpg

Did a 2 passer and got a very close shave, but did get 2 microdots. One at the corner of my left mouth and one on my chin, but they disappeared while I was in the midst of a pass with cold water. I wasn't surprised because this was a fresh blade and Personna Hairshaper blades are very sharp.. However, I did hit them with a styptic pencil for good measure. Lol! Three passes and touchups for my skull shave and BBS was attained with my ShakeSharp Razor.
Some Alum feedback on my neck and on the left side of my head (rare event). Witch hazel and that glorious aftershave followed to end a very good shave. Have a nice evening gents.
