  1. it uses half/split de blades.i tried a Lord disposable shavette some time back.worked pretty good.,though it's hard to compute a closer or longer lasting shave. i get bbs with the same blade in a positive exposure de razor. skin surface is skin surface surely.

  2. cheers Danny.Neal has the same razor,only replated i believe.:):eatdrink047:

  4. Blooming is rapidly becoming the standard 'directions for use' by soap manufacturers, and why not? It uses up vastly more soap and makes people burn though soap faster. That's a win in their books.

No different than selling 7 day sets of straight razors because you needed to "rest" the blade for 24-72 hours to "re-align" the edge (That's totally bogus, by the way).
  5. No need to apologize Ryan. I appreciate any contribution to this thread. You use different soaps and brushes,, so you might consider sharing your thoughts on them.
  6. I can only go by my experience. I believe that safety razors will only allow a short range of angles for an optimum shave while a shavette and a straight have a wider range that gives a closer shave because you can get shallower angles to the skin.

  8. I agree that the manufacturer's reason for owning a 7 day straight razor set is hogwash. Really, why would I want 7 identical straights? I prefer variety because it makes the hobby more fun.
  9. that sounds cool.i'm in.:)

  10. cool progress with the rolls Ryan.
  11. that does make sense.i guess i must have great technique then..:D,i do get a closer shave with my brit red tip/ brit aristocrats or something similar.with techs it's 2 pass plus some touch ups ,but that's a work shave.:)

  12. Thank you, gentlemen. As far as the possible Covid goes -- "so far, so good"... as the jumper said as he passed the 30th floor...

  13. But they aren't identical -- they have different days of the week engraved on their spines so they are all completely different... ;).

  14. when finances allow i will get one,it will be a cool "for a change" razor and skill to dial in,but i have no real interest in doing it full time.i like safeties for a reason..;),and i'm married to my brit collection.
  15. :D..like day of the week undies..
  16. Makes perfect sense to me as a marketing strategy. Unlike "blooming", which has honestly never made any sense to me at all as a shaving strategy or technique...

  17. Gary, I have one of those Parker SRX heavy-duty stainless steel shavettes. If you PM me your mailing address, I will send it to you to play with. Actually, you might as well keep it. I believe I last used it in about 2017 and have no real intention of going back to it...
  18. Precisely. Although the "let them rest and air out" argument might possibly make a little more sense with undies...

  19. Ok John, technically you are correct. Lol!
