  1. wouldn't it be nice for a whole generation to be able to shave in a clean comfortable way without issues without a corporate sponsor pushing the benefits of the next big thing..:D:eatdrink047:

  2. Yes, I agree. I have over 200 subs on my youtube channel and 99% of them are my students who think it's cool to see me shave with a straight. I think it is neat that I introduced them to another method of shaving.
  3. the tfs soap is fabulous.easy load, damp brush, feed it water ultra slick dense lather.a bit of water on the face after the pass built a slick residual layer that was awesome for buffing/touch ups.zero issues with the alum stick..very impressive ..

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave.

Everything in my shave this morning paired together wonderfully.

SE razors truly are fantastic shaving tools...... I have mentioned before in my posts if i had known how wonderful smooth, & efficient SE razors where especially Injector razors when i first ventured into the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving i probably wouldn't have bought a DE razor as they provide and give everything i require for a close comfortable shave.

An enjoyable 2 pass + pick- ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Boots Freshwood ASB.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

  8. I was unable to get my little brothers interested. I even gave one a razor and complete shave kit. Brush, razor, blades, bowl....he has not used it yet.
  9. Actually, I didn't because I was doing the videos for this thread, but incorporated those points while shaving. The kids got a kick out of seeing this old man shaving the traditional way. They were fascinated because their fathers and grandfather's shaved with carts and were never exposed to traditional wet shaving.

  10. Beautiful shave and razor Barry. Omega boars ate great performers and quite soft after the broken in period. I guess that is the latest iteration of The Williams Soap. I found it to be slick, but difficult to lather and stay creamy with my water. Enjoy your afternoon.
  11. Well, maybe he did and he just didn't tell you. I know 20/20 hindsight is great, but I would have shown him how to use the items in a fun way so that he would see why you're into traditional wetshaving. Of course, I am assuming that you didn't, but I have been known to be wrong. LOL!

  12. I have deleted all my videos except one because I was having a difficult time downloading videos from my phone to YouTube. It took days to get my videos to YouTube and sometimes it would get near to completion and the downloading cycle would restart at the beginning. It was quite frustrating. Anyway, this is the only video that I kept. It's me shaving with a DollarTree razor with a proprietary blade that I purchased a couple of months ago. I shared this video here showing that you can get a great shave using inexpensive gear and reinforcing our motto that technique trumps tools. I will be doing videos at least once a month or downloading other YouTube shavers as well. In the meantime, hope this video gives you some useful tips. Enjoy.

    Growth: Two day beard.

Prep: Warm shower: Stirling Sheep bar soap

Pre: Washed face with Stirling Glacial unscented pre-shave soap then reapplied before lathering.

    Brush: RV 25 mm STF

Lather : Razorock XXX Italian shaving soap

    Blade: Feather Pro Guard (D2)

    Razor: Razorock Hawk V3
    Base Plate: OC
    Handle: Razorock Barber Pole

Post: unscented Stirling witch hazel and PAA Mysterium Serum

I would not have considered this razor/blade combination had I not see a post from someone else who did it. The guarded blade definitely tames the OC plate but you still have to watch your angles as the blade can still bite.

Did a two pass shave. This combination did well in my chin and mustache area (though I still had razor burn in both areas). I had a pair of nicks around my Adams apple and had several nicks on the right side of my neck. I don't think the OC plate is for me, but in general, I have not found an OC razor that works well for me. I would say the A plate works best for me with the Hawk V3. SAS+

  18. Nice post, shave and setup David. I would say that as your technique improves, then you will find that you will have no trouble with the OC razor.

  19. His life has gotten more busy and intense so, I don't see him much. He is in kidney failure now and on 3 times a week dialysis.
  20. Featherweight shave is VERY pleasant! Theo is back to watching me shave.

Razor - GEM Featherweight (early version)
Blade - GEM Personna SS 6th shave
Pre-shave - TOBS Herbal Gel (used up and now deep sixxed! I am not getting more.)
    Soap - MWF
    Brush - Simpson #46 Berkeley
    Post - Thayers Toner "Lavender"
Finishing touch - Proraso Balm & AS

It was another very pleasant shave with the Featherweight. This is now one of my favs. 2-pass shave with no cleanup. WTG & ATG and the alum bar was silent. I can shave quickly with this razor now with no problems. No cuts, nicks, or errors. I also enclose a pic of me lathered for my second pass. Heading to the senior center for a guitar jam with friends. I may run to the italian restaurant afterwards. I need my fix!

I hope all have a pleasant day!
