SoS: October 2022

I’m back. In mid-September my wife left to help her parents out. I got lazy and skipped shaving a few days and eventually decided to take a break until she came back. Which she did. But it was two days until Hurricane Ian struck and we were just 35 miles or so from the eye. Sooooo, all hell broke loose which meant no shaving for me for a while.

With water restored, power, wifi, etc. it was time to break out the big gun and take off the month old beard. The big W&B was no match. The beard came off like a carpet being rolled up. Wonderful

Mike's Vetiver~~Simpson Emperor 3~~Kampfe Bros. Star Razor/Gem~~Burt's Bees Bay Rum
One of my oldest soaps, Mike's Vetiver. Earthy, rich, deep, damp goodness.
Fantastic soap base makes Mike's a sure bet.
I really have to work on my technique, vis-a-vis this Star Razor. I am not satisfied with todays results.
Felt a lot of scraping, as the correct angle is not yet ingrained.
Burt's Bees is a patchouli/clove concoction, that received a spontaneous and quite unsolicited SWMBOASOA ©

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #30 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Supply SE Injector and the Supply Black Label Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

OMG, any colder than this and my face would have disintegrated - this Glacial Spearmint soap, balm, and the Snake Bite aftershave are three menthol atom bombs. My gorgeous Yaqi Barber Pole synthetic whipped up such magnificent lather that was so rich, creamy, slick and stable, the menthol sensation buffeted my face and made my eyes tear a little but the skincare of this soap is unbeatable. The matching balm has the beautiful spearmint scent, it’s also colder than hell, and it gives lots of soothing as well as protection from dryness or irritation. The Snake Bite aftershave has no discernible scent - basically just menthol and it stings like crazy for a couple of seconds but then you feel the menthol kick. Three passes with my wonderful Super Speed gave me a dynamite BBS shave!

I find it doesn't smelll QUITE like it, but it's close enough.
