    Christmas Day Greetings,

As on all Christmas day's since i was a kid, i have always been a early riser due to the festive excitement, now it's my ageing body clock that awakes me.
To be totally honest unlike most people I assume, I don't do Christmas anymore. I know for fortunate people it's full of joy and plenty especially for most children and yet so painful and horrible for others.

However, as they say in my neck of the woods 'I'll put a face on' for the Christmas festive season so I don't spoil it for the people who still enjoy it, and most importantly for those who still think Santa Claus is the real deal. Which is something that should never be spoilt as for a child it's the best feeling in the world.

A wonderful Christmas day shave with some of my favourite new old, and infrequently used wet shaving assortments.

The humble grated Palmolive classic shave stick provided a superb protective lather in a short space of time leaving a good post shave feel.

Finishing to the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

My face is feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.

Later, but soon i will be venturing out to the family gathering to help prepare the Christmas dinner, my multi tasking-skills come in useful at certain times' and take part in the festive activities, then as i always try to do, catch up on some well earned rest.

I wish every member of TSD a merry Christmas. Have a good safe pleasurable Christmas day ladies & gentlemen whatever you maybe doing.

    Take care everyone. Yours-Barry.

    Straight Razor Shave #421

Stirling Frankincense and Myrrh SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 20 hrs.

I needed a setup that displayed the Christmas colors and this one fit the bill. The gold brush by Evan and the red coffin for my Henckels Friodur illustrates the conventional Christmas colors. This is the first time that I have shown the red coffin and what better way than to do it on this special day.
Unfortunately, the pic and setup was the best part of today’s session.
Without being melodramatic, this was one of my worst shaves. On my first and only pass, I cut myself twice on one stroke. Hey, I definitely can say that I am efficient by gettting 2 cuts for the price of one. It happened when I was using my left hand to shave under my nose. I usually use my right hand, but for some reason I used my left. As I landed the razor, I got bit twice. I apparently had the angle a little too steep and had just a little more pressure for my own good. Lol. Anyway, the cuts were minor, but the bleeding continued for awhile. Of course, I stopped the shave. It's a good thing that I got a SAS result despite the boo-boos. I added the splash to get some antiseptic action to clean out the wounds. Finally, I used a cotton ball loaded with isopropyl alcohol to continue to clean the woumds. Finally, the bleeding stopped. Thankfully, it doesn't look bad. Anyway, You all have a Merry Christmas!

  11. Here is the aftermath of my botched shave:

    20221225_160623~2.jpg

You can see the obvious one on my stache. The other one is northwest of it and it is very faint so I circled the area to allow you guys an easier view. It is west of my blemish on my right jowl. The wounds look fine, but they bled like there was no tomorrow. Lol! It could have been worse, so I thank God that I don't have a heavy hand.

  15. DecemBOAR! Focus -- Monday Morning Edition

    Razor: Asylum injector
    Blade: sChick
    Brush: Zenith 505
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
A/S: Chatillon Lux - Bon Vivant

Highly efficient shave using what may be the most attractive new razors of 2022, the Asylum injector. High blade feel compared to vintage Schicks. The Zenith boar brush easily built a nice MWF lather. I will be sad to return these borrowed boar brushes, but I have put an order in for a couple of new Zenith brushes to break in next year.

    SE Shave # 296

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket 26 mm
    Lather: Cella Crema da Barba
    Aftershave: Cella Milano
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

First and foremost, I hope all had a wonderful time with your friends and family during this Christmas/Hanukkah season.

This morning’s shave featured one of the gifts my daughter gave to me for Christmas, the Cella aftershave. The MMBT made quick work of the less than 24 hour stubble as I am up early for a flight to Florida. The missus complimented the smoothness of the shave and the scent of the aftershave. All is well in Carbone land.

I hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

  20. Thank you Joe. Yes, too bad about Chatillon Lux. I heard in an interview that Shawn simply could not cover the margin for the aftershave, but is having great success as a perfumer. By the way, great choice by your daughter on the Cella A/S. That scent is one of my favorites. Safe travels to you.
