Monday, January 16 Day Eight La Savonnière du Moulin~~Simpson PL8~~Gem MMOC/Gem~~West Indies Bay Rum The rare "morning" shave since returning to a 40 Hour work week. Today, all-staff training at 8am (8 AM!! ), afforded me the opportunity to shave before work. The Ass Milk soap is retreating nicely and might...maybe...perhaps will be 3017'd by the end of January. This Bay Rum is, as I have espoused previously, a "lighter" version of Dominica. (read: weaker) However, the scent is exactly to my tastes. Great shave with the Gem.
The D01 Flat Top is an acquired taste for sure. I snagged this one on the Against The Grain group buy.
January 16, 2023 Feather Feather Shavemac D01 Flat Top Mithchell’s Wool Fat Small Batch Shave Tonic Back to work this morning. I am working remotely before going to a client site later this morning. Everything played well together to deliver another wonderful shave to start the day. I hope everyone as a wonderful Monday.
I was going to say something about your "Oudless(useless"), but a quick double-check of the spelling of both words blew that baby right out of the water,
I have never owned a true "Flattop". Closest thing was a Fan knot from Scott at DG. It was a terrific B5 I had transplanted into that disaster of a SE, the Thäter Beehive Boar. The handle was outstanding, but the knot was unusable. Regrettably, I sold it. That's one of a few, I wish I had back. I am starting a new thread.
Day 12 I’ve been working through some ‘neglected’ blades to spice up my last two 3017 projects. This was the last day of that. Many have hit that drawer for various reasons. I’ve noticed (after several years) that there are very few that are unusable, but some that I just don’t enjoy. The Ladas from today is in that category.
The Shavemac D01 knots have by far the most backbone of any knot I have used. It’s really something else until the knot is broken in. I’ve read some describe it as lathering with a velvet covered brick. Now that I have it fully broken in, I find it to be a wonderful knot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tuesday, January 17 Day Nine La Savonnière du Moulin~~Hucklaration B5~~Gillette New LC/7 O'Clock Black~~Vintage Givenchy Gentleman Today, I am going to talk about my newest brush. It's a Bristle Brushwerks Hucklaration, with a Declaration Grooming B5 knot. That's a mouthful and will be hence forth known as simply the Hucklaration B5. This knot is second only to the great B2, which I had and mos def© stupidly let go of. The B5 is like shaving with a new tennis ball (softest one you can find) it's that dense. Bit of a lather hog, as well, but man-o-man does it feel incredible on the face. The Faux Tortoise handle is quite ergonomic. Side Note: This brush is an earlier version from Bristle Brushwerks, before they started putting a coin in the handle. Now, Primo must re-acquire a B2...
Day 13 of 3017- getting a little nose blind… After almost two months of using ‘neglected’ DE blades, the Supply with a sharp Proline was awesome. Thanks to @clint64 for making it available a few years ago.
January 18, 2023 Feather Feather MrEE #4 Mithchell’s Wool Fat Small Batch Shave Tonic Happy Wednesday Everyone. I was up very early this morning and had just enough time to make coffee before my phone blew up with one crisis after another. I finally managed to get a shave, shower and lunch at 3:30pm. At least the shave was a great one. I sure hope tomorrow is easier than today.
