My "new" Gillette Aristocrat plated in mirror nickel by Chris of Back Roads Gold. When I acquired this vintage classic, someone had polished away all the gold plate on the head, leaving an odd contrast between handle and head. This always bugged me, so recently I sent it to Chris for his mirror nickel finish. I love the looks of nickel razors and thought this would be a good finish for the Aristocrat. First off, Chris is great to deal with, and his turn around time is fast! I have never done a replate before and fully expected to wait weeks. He had it back in my mailbox in less than a week! It is stunning, and as advertised, mirror finish nickel. I can't take photos sufficient to do it justice. If you've got an old warhorse that is in need of a facelift, I can't recommend the services of Back Roads Gold enough. As to the shave, I loaded up an Astra SP and found that blade works great in the Aristocrat. Two days worth of stubble melted right off and left behind an absolutely smooth finish. I am good to go. One thing I like about this razor is the level of efficiency feels better to me than many of the other non-adjustable Gillette one piece razors. This old warrior is dressed up in a new suit and ready to go the distance again, providing years and decades of tremendous shaves
