Thanks for the affirmation John. In my case, I have about 13 pucks of soaps, excluding samples and tunes of creams so that I really don't need to buy soaps for years to come. Shaving is supposed to be enjoyable so I don't worry how much soap I use.

A very disappointing lathering process this morning. I very rarely have any difficulty get a nice lather from a Stirling soap. Today was a chore.

I opted for the badger brush to be loaded off of the puck. Following the loading the bowl lathering process ensued. I was able to get a decent amount of lather in the bowl. Unfortunately, as I applied it to my face the lather dissipated on my face and into the brush.

I put a call in to the bullpen for one of my synthetics. Reloaded the brush off the puck, bowl lathered and applied to my face. The lather did not dissipate but I was not the usual quality I have come to expect for a Stirling soap.
Nonetheless, the slickness of the soap was ever present. I did my usual three pass shave with very nice results. Minor feedback from the post shave alum.

I will categorize the issue with the lathering process as an outlier for a Stirling soap.

I hope you all had enjoyable shaves.

Very nice shave Joe. I remember when I had similar problems with lathering with my badger brushes. To fix it, I made sure that I made a heavier brush load and just paint the lather until I felt comfortable using circular motions to work up the lather. Pushing the brush too hard on the face at the start of face lathering made the soap move deeper into the bristles. I am surprised that the Stirling Soap performed less than usual while using a synthetic brush. I don't have a solution as to why that happened.

I've had the same problem with badgers. They love water. I'm finding I prefer synthetics. (Uh oh... Did I really say that?)

I decided to use my VdH razor this afternoon. It's a mild razor that suits me fine while my nick heals from a previous shave. I have to say that I an enjoying these Wilkinson Sword blades. They really are smooth and efficient.
Unlike @JACarbone Joe, I didn't have a problem lathering this soap with my Rockwell Synthetic Brush. I got a rich, creamy and slick lather that did not dissipate on my brush or face.
Two passes gave me a BBS shave. Did get a tiny weep on my upper lip, but the alum made it disappear. The alum feedback was slight. Splashed on the Fine Accoutrements Platinum aftershave to finish this "Stirling" and "Fine" shave. Take care.
