As I stated before, I use more creams, but I definitely plan to use soaps more often. I'll reserve at least 3 shaves a week for soaps.
Soaps in the dish I love the soap dish because it seems to be a part of the complete ritual- too many things come in tubes these days!
I prefer soap over cream due to the fact that they are slicker but when I want a lot of lather I will use cream to get a nice thick lather.
That's so true it hurts! I love both, but I tend to go in cycles. I'm heading from a massive cream-crush to using more soaps. But, I've got 4 new SCreams coming on line in a few more days, so I expect another swing of the pendulum...
Soaps so far, but that's mainly because I'm new to all this and don't have much experience (and soaps are what I can find locally). I am awaiting an order with some new stuff to try out, though. I may change my mind quickly enough. EW
So far only Proraso and KMF are my favorites. Tried MB soap and the scents rock, but I just can't seem to get the glycerin based soaps to work for me. I ordered a puck of Institut Karite on the 10th, and am still waiting for it I will post after a few uses to share my experience with it. Aaron
I prefer Tabac Soap and then Proraso Cream. But in general, I would have to say that overall I prefer soaps... There are still numerous of both I need to try so my choice may change as I experiment... Enjoy your shave...
I'm still pretty new at this, but so far I thought I would be a soap guy and I've been using cream pretty much exclusively! I started with Col. Conk's soap - and it was okay - then I picked up a tube of Proraso and wow. Love that cool feeling after the shave. I have some TOBS cream that should be here any day. I would give different soaps a chance, but there is so much to try out there that the budget just won't allow me to go too wild!
I'm relatively new to DE wet shaving, but in my short time I have done a good bit of experimentation with creams and soaps..... artisan creams (TSD, SCS), tube creams (KMF, Nivea, Godrej, Proraso, Musgo Real), milled soap (Tabac, Palmolive stick), glycerin soap (Mama Bear, Pirate's Cove, VDH) and soft soap (Cella Crema da Barba). For the most part, I find the soaps to be slicker and simply provide a smoother, more effective shave. I face lather exclusively, and really have had no trouble at all getting good lather from any of these products. So far, it's SOAP for me. Top 3 : -Tabac (Doggone it, I wish it smelled better. Bring on the Irisch Moos!) -Cella Crema da Barba (Old formula, good stuff! Esp. like the light almond scent) -Palmolive stick As it turns out ,all of my favorites, to this point, share the common ingredient of tallow. Maybe there is something to this. Cheers, Larry
