  4. In keeping with the June theme. Here's...

    (1) my first razor from "the wild", a gold Fat Handle Tech ($15 I think...).
    (2) the first "lather" bowl bought for me by my wife.
    (3) the first brush I enter made.

I guess I have had the "Courage" to continue...

    Have a great month people...

  6. Thank you Joe, my favourite bowl so far.

Thanks Gary, the T&H is not bad, undecided if I will replace this.

    Thanks Joe.

Fantastic early morning Monday shave, raining heavily, so it was not so cold today

    48 hrs growth

    05 Jun 2023 border.jpg

Face Prep: 3x 30 seconds Hot Water soaks
No Pre-shave available so I used some Perth Soapworks Bar Hair Conditioner and left this to soak while I lathered up
    Gillette 50’s Rocket
    Derby Premium (2)
T&H Sandalwood: < 1 ml scooped into the bowl still produced a huge amount of lather
    Old Vulfix Super Badger
Timeless Razor bowl. Light, internal ridges, easy to grip, and it allows me to rest my longer brushes on the side without them falling in! One of life’s tiny little luxuries
Clubman’s Pinaud After shave. Nice enough, not sure I will order a full bottle
Jo Malone Orange Bitter Cologne lovely

Definitely needed 3 full passes with this milder razor and blade combo, with multiple touch ups to the strategically challenging areas

Damage: zilch, none, nada, zero, no blood, no skin loss, happy days

As previously mentioned here: skin stretching is very useful. I do this with my left hand dipped in lather, feeling for the rough areas ahead of the razor

Much smoother shave today, much more enjoyable, much better results. 80% BBS both ways. 20% super smooth one way, with some stubborn sandpaper left behind in the chin cleft and right lower neck. Strange how one does not find this while shaving but only afterwards.

Better results today because of....... 48 hours growth works better for me/Gillette works better for me than the Muhle Rocca 96 I used two days ago/Day 2 of the DE blade/home-made face prep (hair conditioner). The Gillette allows more strokes/passes over the challenging areas without removing any skin.

This morning's walk was shortened by storms and heavy rain, got properly soaked!

    Focus for June:
    1. Targeting on getting close to @Trigger Mr Lather Master’s slick looking shiny lather
    2. Still need to work out a strategy to deal with the stubborn sandpaper at right lower neck area

  10. Great shave and post Chris. Thanks for the kind words. As a straight and open blade shaver, my lather needs to be more hydrated to increase the slickness for my edges to readily slide over my skin. I have been experimenting with my lathers by adding more increments of water and lathering time to get that sheen. I just want to say that it's not necessary to have a super creamy lather. If you're getting good shaves with your lather, then your lather is fine. There are many ways to make a lather. Again, thanks for the compliment.

  12. It's tough for me to do outside excercises in the heat of summer-it's either humid or raining(or both).

  13. Real nice shave on this Menthol Monday morniong(I didn't use menthol though). 2 Knicks on S. Porcupine(close to the lower lip)werethe only issues. Nice and clean everywhere else. 2 passes, but I felt so good after Pass #1 I wanted to leave it at that, but that would have wasted a lot of soap. Clubman A.S. did me good, as it has done since I was a teenager(I bet I was the only student in high school who used Clubman.). Super Duper Outstanding.
