It's a puck of soap, elegantly wrapped in paper. It can be purchased with it's bowl. Edit: or used with the MWF ceramic dish, since it's the same soap. Edit 2: or purchased from Connought Shaving in their bowl... I don't know of any other soap that has so many packaging options.
Thanks Ryan for a great analysis. It explains why I've never had any issues lathering MWF (or WMS, either). My favorite brushes tend to be boars, 2-bands, mixtures, or manchurians - all of which have backbone for days.
i think it was the original. I read somewhere that it's the same soap maker as dr Harris, so i had to try it.england's last og soap hold out.. from the website.. Fresh top notes of Pine Needle, Elemi, Cumin & Coriander herald a mid range of Frankincense, Patchouli & Tobacco, against an exotic base of Sandalwood & Amber.
Maybe the same maker, but not the same formula. Sodium tallowate is the first ingredient in the Capt Fawcett. Second ingredient in the D R Harris. I like the bowl it comes in, too. I was expecting that to be stamped foil on the lid. It's actually a big solid coin. Surprisingly heavy.
Yep, and to add to that, it used to be palm oil based, and quite decent. It is now coconut oil based and quite terrible. I believe that Connought Shaving has both varieties in stock. Edit: that's what I heard, anyways. Digging deeper... Palm oil version is the current one, and comes in a black tub. The coconut version was the previous one, and was better. It came in a white tub with red lid. The original tallow formula version came in a white tub with green lid. No information on how good it was, at least not that a quick search showed. ...and only the new version is available at Connought.
I have the current version in the black tub. Not terrible at all. Doesn't stand out in any way either. But it's a decent drugstore shaving soap. Certainly worth what they're adking for it at least.
very cool.looking forward to trying it out.i saw little about the brand on the forum here so i gave it little thought.
I'm beginning to wonder now if you pay for the bowl AND soap when you order from Bill Neumann. Could explain the high price.
