Very nice shave with the underwhelming software. For someone who is not a fan of Disney, you sure are rocking the Dumbo bowl.

That's great Herm! You and I are a testament that it is never too late to exercise no matter what our initial fitness level. To me, it's my daily prescription to keep healthy. May you continue to workout for as long as you can.

Fine shave Paul. I am a little confused. How do you manage to load the brush without without getting any soap on the tip?

I am a day ahead, but it's Friday somewhere on this planet. I would say in Perth, Australia. Lol! Anyway, I corrected my post to reflect NY time.

I don't know how, other than to repeat from my report-that the only soap left was around the perimiter and at times I went at it like there was some on the bottom. It stunned me to see that there was nothing on the tip.

Thanks Chris...You can't go wrong with a Gillette Tech and shave stick set up. The Wilkinson Sword shave stick you used in your set up are absolutely superb, one of my personal favourites.:happy088:

Appreciate that Joe, maybe each lathering method has its place. I don't generally leave my soaps in tubs open for more than a short while, and am not too blessed in the olfactory department so if they do lose some scent that is fine with me. The ASL and colognes do the job nicely. I agree though, that I get more control with the bowl lathering at this stage.

Wow, that must be some collection, from what we have seen they are all in superb condition. I tried my other Tech this morning (separate post below) so am interested in your comments about how they perform similarly to one another.

thanks Gary, interesting in how it is taking some time but am beginning to get the feel of different bits of hardware like the blades and which ones work better than others.

Hi Joe, I know where you are coming from, it is part of the process and one that I do enjoy. From a travel point of view a cream in a tube or a shave stick seem like a good option. Less stuff to carry around.
You said "no one bothering me" Lol!, I tend to lose focus if/when my wife is mulling around the bathroom while I am shaving. Big breath, razor off face, pause a while!

That's good to know, Barry, I do have one other one I picked up locally, might see if the fellow has some more. He did rave about them when I bought them from him, but now I know why. I did peel the whole wrapper from the stick, maybe not a good idea? Better to just peel this off as one goes along?

Joe @Trigger do you think some brushes are better for face lathering? and some better for bowl lathering?

Lol, just planning ahead you could say!, no problem there, I sometimes lose track of the day of the week esp when I am on leave or am a day or two behind in posting here.

24 hours, pre-work shave: Similar setup to yesterday, with some changes in bold

Razor: using my other Aluminium Tech
    Blade: Gillette Platinum blue (1)
Soap: Wilkinson shaving stick applied liberally to the whole beard area
Brush: Puro Tasso Boar face lathering

Usual Prep and Post shave care
Scent: L’instant de Guerlain pour Homme

Previously when I used this other Tech of mine, I did not like it for some reason. Today I did. So: either the Platinum blade suits the Tech, or my TECHnique has improved somewhat (ouch!)

Sufficient lather for 3 passes and touch ups. I would have preferred more lather, it was getting a bit thin towards the end. Might want to start off with thicker lather when face lathering from a stick?

Overall success. 9/10 still some stubborn spikey bits to the right of the (adam’s) apple

Rainy day here in Perth, it’s still Friday down under here, Saturday is closing in fast but still Friday in the North American continent I suspect ;)

Have a great Friday and weekend ahead

In my experience, synthetic brushes are better for bowl lathering, while natural ones are suited for face lathering. Mind you, it's not set in stone because it depends on the brush. I use synthetic brushes for bowl lathering because I can put a lot of pressure on the brush without worrying about losing bristles. I have used natural brushes to bowl lather, but I have to be lighter on the touch so it takes a little longer for me to whip up a lather. I just want to say that I will bowl lather 99.9 % of the time because I don't want remnants of water in my pucks destroying the scent and quality of them.
