  4. So this might be the coolest antique find I’ve found. At first I thought it was an empty tin. But to my luck I scored a NOS Burma-Shave set. To my knowledge Burma-Shave went out of business in 1966. I don’t know the date but it looks too modern

  6. Very cool.from wiki..
    In 1997, the American Safety Razor Company reintroduced the Burma-Shave brand with a nostalgic shaving soap and brush kit, though the original Burma-Shave was a brushless shaving cream, and Burma-Shave's own roadside signs frequently ridiculed "Grandpa's old-fashioned shaving brush."

    It has been a busy week. We took the grandkids camping on the Tennessee Tombigbee River and got back in Thursday. I got a good shave in Tuesday it was with the .84mm Gamechanger and the Maggard MRT travel handle. Sweet combo.

    Yesterday and today's shave was with the Masamune.

    Tatara Masamune with the open comb plate.
    Gillette Silver Blue blade.
    Mitchell’s Wool Fat soap.
    Razorock 400 Plissoft synthetic brush.
    Timeless Razor shave bowl.
    Irish Chestnut by Andy Hilfiger cologne.

    I had to go back to work yesterday and rest up. :happy102:The grandkids wore me out but we had a great time.

    Yesterday's and today's shave with the Masamune was just awesome.....there is no place like the home den. The camper den is a little cramped.

    I hope everyone is doing great and if I have missed anything real important like Joe @Trigger possibly getting married let me know. :D

  20. (Saturday 17 Jun, no shave, busy around the house)

    Sunday 18th June 2023
    Brekkies, coffee, ½ hour walk

    51 hours growth meaning it was a good chance to try something different

    18 Jun 2023 gb.jpg

    Razor = Gillette OC
    (Gillette Aristocrat at the ready as a backup if things got out of control, but was not needed)
    Blade = Gillette Platinum blue day 2
    Soap = Needed something slick to I decided to stick with Sterling (British Leather)
    Brush = Omega 49 Boar
    Timeless bowl, Joe @Trigger technique

    Prep = Usual face prep
    Post = Warm and Cold water rinses, Alum, Thayers, Brut ASL, Proraso AS Balm

    As it happened
    I decided that with 2+ days growth it was time to re-try an Open Comb razor I have had for a while. It definitely needed a lighter touch. It fair peeled the stubble off on the First Pass in most places, especially the flats and plains
    A hint of some redness in the cleft between lower lip and chin was a warning sign to go slow
    Second pass included some XTG in most Zones
    Third Pass was not needed, interesting because I do usually need 3 passes
    Minor (very careful) touch ups around the apple, under the chin and in the valleys and hollows
    Not game to go ATG in any area, neither was this needed, very efficient shave

    Smoother than I have been in a long time especially in the flats and plains, even after just 2 passes
    Happy to heed the warning sign of minor crimson and leave it at that

    Pleased to be able to tick this one off as a good razor for longer growth, provided due care is taken
    The Gillette Platinum blue still felt sharp, I might bend my rules a bit and see how it feels if I take it to day 3

    Smooth, refreshed and presentable for our lunch time guests

    Happy Sunday ladies and gents, have some great shaves as I am sure you are
