The Proraso Green Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #206 2-band Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Pal Injecto-Matic Razor and a Vintage Pal Hollow Ground Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Shave of the Week Starting 6/19/2023

Looking thru my stash of stuff, came across the Contour and thought I should give it a try. It's been years since I used an SE and, low & behold, no blades. Went online and found a deal for 48 NOS Gem stainless blades for $8.00 with free shipping. Yeah for me! Since I can get 7-10 shaves from one of these, looks like I'm set for a year or so. And just picked up the Yaqi brush, it's got an Artic knot, soft yet good backbone and is gorgeous. I like it. And I always like Dr. Selby SC (it's a soap!) cuz it works well for me and smells lovely. Anyway, on the shave. It actually went well. The Contour II is mild but effective and, as I was careful with technique, the shave went well and excellent results were had. Think I'll continue on an SE journey after this week. Should be interesting and fun. So, my face is happy and ya'll should go enjoy your day folks.

MMMonday, June 19th, 2023. MicroMatic Monday, any ASR that uses a Gem blade + any day of the week is welcomed.


Razor : Micromatic OC, Bump less variant from 1930-32 - Micromatic OC variants Mfg from 1930-41, mid range, built to last with a little care, Bump less models where usually not coated from my limited observance. I like to use a RIGS shim underneath the modern aluminium spine to smooth out the shave because older blades in the 1930's had thicker spines then. Had a excellent close shave this morning with this beautiful patinaed MicroMatic razor.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(6) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock XXX , nice clean unique scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Atlantis" 24mm G4 synthetic, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, excellent splay scrubber + great lather painter. Closest synthetic knot I own that comes close to the feel of a 2band badgers I enjoy IMO.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my MMOC bump less with a coated Gem blade. Very nice shave this morning, not 100% perfect but the way I like it and my skin enjoys it also for a very close comfortable shave.

Post:

Early morning Shave,

Its been a while since I last added the OSP neroli soap to my soap rotation which I bought blind some time ago now going off the samples of other OSP soaps that I tried and the wonderful grapefruit & menthol cream performance. I'm so glad i did, both provide me with a super protective lather throughout the shaves leaving a excellent post shave feeling to the face.

A enjoyable early morning comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Aloe Vera Cooling Gel.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.
