I've been forcing myself to go through my collection which, due to having to move twice in the past two years, has been mostly boxed up. Today I broke out the Neillite 400 for the first time in forever. Very nice bakelite razor. Every time I do this, my go-to changes. So I don't have an answer. Yet.
Mostly SE razors. Currently my Asylum A/C and Injector are getting the majority of the calls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have four vintage Gillettes. And, yes, I do use them in my regular rotation. Having said that, my daily drivers tend more to my Edwin Jagger DE89, Game Changer and Rockwell 6C.
Recently I've been using the Aslyum RX injector razor to see if it is something worth keeping. I usually do at least 14 shaves which works out to 7 shaves per blade one blade being a Chinese Schick and the other a Personna to see how the razor performs.
1960s Fat Boy and two old "flare tip" Super Speeds are my go-to razors, along with the Wilkinson Sword (India) blades. I rotate the other razors and use other blades as the whim hits me. - Bax
These days, mainly Merkur 37 C. I tend to favor (mainly) one daily driver for some months, and then change to another first pick for a couple of months. Before the 37 C, it was a couple of Fatip OCs (Grande and Piccolo). And then I try out different others intermittently, but stay with one "main". The Main can't be too-too aggressive, otherwise I can't use it every day without discomfort. Like, this evening, I used the humble Turkish YUMA. Excellent, incredibly efficient razor, but I find it too hard on my skin to be promoted to "daily driver". Instead, it's a "treat" I will use in-between.
gillette "New" series oc.Gillette England added material to long comb baseplates to allow for two piece design handles like the single ring ,hence the term "raised flat bottom" u.s amd other markets abandoned this handle type after 1929.
I don’t have a daily driver, but I’ve commented often that there are a few razors that would take that title if needed. A Gillette NEW Long Comb fits the bill for a Vintage shaver. A brass Karve Christopher Bradley with a D plate for a modern. A SS Supply with the 2 dot plate if I had to run with a SE. All are easy, efficient and smooth. Those would be my prerequisites for a daily driver.
Above The Tie Windsor, Astra green blades, synthetic brush and whatever cream or soap fits the fancy of the week - right now it is Proraso Green cream.
Any of my Techs could be a daily driver. Of my few modern DE razors this Asylum Evolution knocks me out. Could easily be a desert island razor.
I generally use a RR Hawk V3A with Schick Proline blades. If I want a change, I have been reaching for either a MMCP or a LC New.
If by 'daily' you mean a razor that is best used daily, as opposed to one where you can skip days between shaves, then mine is the Van Der Weishi followed by the Merkur 23.
