I've been a collector of hats for quite a while and have the usual "mechanics" collection of brands in baseball caps but my true favourites are the stetsons amongst my shelves. I absolutley love the fit finish and history with a stetson fedora.
I would love to get a nice Fedora, but I don't want to get it through mail order. I would love to go to a nice men's hat shop, but I can't find one within a few hours of where I live. I live in Huntington, WV. I was hoping that I might find a hat shop in Columbus or Cincinnati, but I haven't been able to find one. Does anyone know of a hat shop anywhere around this part of the country?
After all, you do live in Polk County! To the OP, great looking hat, quite stylish. I myself am a huge hat guy and rarely am seen without one. My collection runs the spectrum with a couple wool felt fedoras, several panamas, a news boy cap and my latest acquisition was a black homberg. My son said a pimp cane should have came with the latter and a guy at work said I looked like a voodoo man Generally though, due to the climate I live in my go to hats seem to be one of my 3 panamas. When the weather cools down (for the 1 week of Fall and the 1 week of Winter) I tend to go to the wool felt side of the house.
THREAD REVIVAL!! My first Stetson, a Bozeman. Just ordered, so I won't see it for a while. (note: this thread is 13 years old. Many of the folks you'll see here are no longer active, so watch who you are directing comments or questions to--you may not get a reply)
@swarden43 that is a handsome hat! My husband, who is very fair-skinned was looking a while ago for a summer hat to wear to & from work, He is not a big fellow, so fedoras look absurd on him. He went to a hat shop in Manhattan and found a straw Porkpie that looks quite good on him.
I needed a utilitarian cap to keep my beaner from burning; I prefer it to baseball caps. Someday I'll get one from Boston Scally Co.
It was ordered this morning. I got an email - it's already being shipped!! Should be here in a couple of days.
