Well, we aren't even into August, and I already miss my cold-weather shaves&soaps. I'm going to try to sneak some in before the weather changes.
Awesome Tech Tuesday Gary Lovely outdoorsy setup and brush Danny Cool looking handle on the R41 Joe, nice to be able to pop down to the pharmacy for the AQ aftershave. When my Brut is finished I will see if I can hunt this down somewhere locally.
26 Jul 2023 SOTA 30 hours stubble, late afternoon shave Prep = usual Soap = CF Scapicchio Brush = Old Vulfix Bowl = Timeless Razor = Gillette Aristocrat, mild and safe Blade = Gillette Rubie fresh blade Three passes plus touch ups, mainly WTG and XTG both ways, no blood was shed Post = Cold water rinse, alum, CWR, Thayers’, Proraso Rinfrescante to match the milder scent of the Scappicchio, nice scent (mainly fig to my nose) stayed slick all the way through with nice post shave feel Thanks to Terry’s cap and Paul’s chipping tactics, lovely and smooth mostly, one red bump right lower neck, getting too close maybe………….?
Thanks Chris. There are other handle iterations for the R41. The black handle is known as the R101. Last time I checked, it goes up to R108. You can go on line and see the different handles. Last night, I was coming home from a teaching, and stopped at a grocery store to pick up a new bottle of Aqua Velva. I went there because my bank has a branch in that store with an ATM and had to make a withdrawal. As you can see, I killed 2 birds with one stone. Therefore, I didn't need to go to the drugstore.
SRS # 926- ECWS - Christmas in July Shave Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Wade & Butcher 13/16 “Bow” Brush: CRD Patriotic Swirl 26 mm Synthetic Lather: Barrister & Mann Dickens Revisted Aftershave: Barrister & Mann Dickens Revisted Additional Care: Omega Alum Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm I usually frown upon an early indications of a specific holiday long before its time. (ie: Halloween and Thanksgiving supplies in the stores in early July, St.Patrick’s Day stuff out in January and Back to School supplies out in the end of June). Nonetheless, I do enjoy the B & M Dickens Revisted anytime of year.
SRS # 927 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Thiers-Issard Super Gnome Extra Brush: Shore Shave Creamsicle Swirl 24 mm White Synthetic Lather: Lather Bros. Calle Ocho Aftershave: Aqua Velva Musk Additional Care: Omega Alum Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm Superb shave this morning as we head into another hot day on our lovely island. Gradually working towards the completion of the Calle Ocho soap. My estimates for the appearance of the Edmund Fitzgerald would be at some point late September or early October. I use about 1 - 1.5 grams of soap with each shave. Currently the tub is registering at 71 grams. It you subtract the plastic, approximately 20-25 grams that would leave me with 45-50 grams of soap. At the current rate I have about 35 shaves to go. This morning I went with my usually three passes. The TI easily took care of the 24 hour growth without incident. I received the SWMBO SOA. Sorry Joe, @Primotenore, figured I use it in your long absence. Stay cool gentlemen.
