  2. Yes, as I just commented to Chris, Semogue is a well-regarded maker that has been around for decades. Their badger brushes, especially the SOC ones, have excellent ratings and reviews on all the shaving boards. So I wrote mine off as an anomalous "Monday morning" QC lemon and moved on. The cherrywood handle is beautifuuly made, so re-knotting just made sense. At the time, the Tuxedo knot was the latest and greatest synthetic out there, so I went with it, and it has been a good choice.

  3. Great shave and a lovely blue-themed photo!

Question, Gary: is your current avatar the duck (or goose, I don't remember which) that was Dr. Doolittle's housekeeper in the movie?

Edit: I see you had a video about Embden geese, so I suspect that is the photo. Is that maybe also what they used for that movie role?

  9. Finally, I'm back to a top-grade shave . Fine's Knize 10 clone isn't TOO uncomfortable in summertime-a reviewer said it can be an all-year shave and I agree. Wonderful fragrance. I had a little too much water in the soap, so tried to shake some out. Zeroes across the board with cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. I succeeded with the rough areas(along the jawlines under each sideburn). Blew through all other areas like a lawn-mower does with grass. 2 passes. As Outstanding As It Gets.

I decided to take my time shaving with Max and was rewarded with a 3 pass BBS shave
However, I did get 2 tiny weeps that the cold water obliterated them altogether.
    Here's today's lather.

Did my usual post shave routine with the application of the alum, the witch hazel and the aftershave. Tomorrow, Artie gets the call to get me clean-shaven. Take care.
