  3. Super C-MON shave Joe. Those vintage razors are just great performers. I hate it when you like a soap and the company goes out of business. Again, have a great time at the aquarium with Anthony.

  7. My wife’s friend gives us an annual pass which covers the NY Aquarium, Bronx Zoo, Queens Zoo, Cental Park Zoo and Prospect Park Zoo.

When the weather is a bit cooler we will go to the Bro x Zoo, probably in October.

  10. Aug 15 SOTA

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave # 476
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (18)
Gillette Fatboy (7, 9 for touchup)
    Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (8)
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
    Cella SS
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 22 hrs
    Dome Turf: 4 days

I definitely needed a headshave because I let it go an extra day. My Fatboy got the call to shave the dome. Of course, I had to use another Dovo tool to shave my face and neck. I don't recall using my 3 Dovo razors consecutively.
Anyway, I picked Cella and Aqua Velva Ice Blue because the scent is gone from the soap and the aftershave scent doesn't stay long. I am going to a frag free venue athis evening and I don't need anyone getting an allergic reaction on my account.
    Anyway, here's my lather:

Did 3 passes on the face and neck and the same number on my dome plus pickups for an error-free BBS shave all around. I would say that I am just shy of passing the cotton ball test on the face, but on the dome I passed.
Alum feedback was negative on the dome and slight everywhere else. Finished the shave in my usual manner. Tomorrow, I will.be doing another shavette shave with my Parker. I will put a fresh blade in it, but haven't decided which Blade will get the nod. Take care.

  12. I do not neglect to the SIZ. The States Island Zoo is not part of the WCS therefore we do not have admission for it.

  14. I thought the pass was good for all the NY zoos and thought you forgot to mention Staten Island Zoo. Since John is not familiar with NYC., he assumed that there were only 4 since you only mentioned 4. It was then I went into teacher mode to inform him that NYC has 5 zoos. The curse of being a teacher. Lol!

  16. Great dual shave, Joe!

That's an interesting stubby Jayaruh brush. I thought most of his tended to have longer handles. Looks like oak, maybe? I find the cashmere is a nice synthetic knot - fine hairs but still good backbone and it doesn't feel "sticky" like some of the earlier generation of synthetics did.

  17. Thanks John. If I remember correctly, Jim said the handle was indeed oak. The knot really doesn't have much of a backbone and that's OK because it is great for bowl lathering. It's a fine brush. I was fortunate to win it at one of the TSD raffles. I have another JR #386 brush that has a Silvertip knot and the handle is made out of rosewood. I like the Celtic cross design and he put a medallion with a cross on the bottom. Obviously, you can't see it here. It's my favorite knot. Here's a picture of my JR #386:
