  1. Keeping at it Chris. Well done with your persistence.
  2. Thanks Joe. Last used this in March I think, can't remember having that much trouble with it. Maybe I am just spoilt with Arko and Cella etc. But yes, I will add a synthetic into the mix.
  3. :signs001: Joe. I don't often give Tabac a run out, but when I do it's always a pleasure...Have a relaxing Sunday.
  4. Awesome shave and setup Barry! Enjoy your afternoon!

  5. Great rebound shave Chris! I never pulled the trigger on MWF because I have hard water and the soap is difficult to lather in hard soap. I have read that you have to bloom the soap and use it every day. I think at least 7 consecutive shaves, but I am not sure.
  6. Hi all.
A totally off the wall shave today.

    20230827_092447.jpg

Pulled out my R41 and loaded it with a new Feather blade. Now I haven't used it for some time, so using a substandard soap probably wouldn't be the first choice of most shavers. So using a bar of Ivory soap would seem to be somewhat crazy.
It doesn't lather great but it does lather.
I find it plenty slick enough but the lather it creates is lackluster, fading away in short time.
At the first stroke I didn't have enough cap, so it was slightly irritating till half way through the stroke. Riding more cap tamed the razor for the rest of the shave.
I'd forgotten that it doesn't work well for trimming around the ears and goatee.
But some buffing took care of that.
Other than the first stroke of the shave I'm clean and unharmed. There is no burn or weepers.
The Stetson AS doesn't have any alcohol and has a milder scent than what I'm used to, but ok.
Might try this same setup tomorrow, but using a different soap.

    Enjoy

  8. Thank you Joe...Here's the official scent profile of the ML Essentials No.3.
    ESSENTIALS - No 3
    DISTINCTIVE, LEATHERY AND MASCULINE

Top notes of ruby mandarin orange, grapefruit, peppermint and aromatic herbs overlay a rich heart of rose absolute, cinnamon and spices with base notes of warm leather, exotic patchouli, white woods, amber and spice.

I received an ML Edp gift pack x4 from my sister as a Christmas present which consists of No. 1, No.3, No.9, No.10. They are all really nice, if I had to pick a favourite then it would be ML No.10

    Scent profile.

    ESSENTIALS - No 10
    POWERFUL, RICH AND INVIGORATING

Top notes of bergamot, pineapple, orange and green apple overlay a warm floral heart of neroli, rose and melon, with rich, tenacious base notes of leather, cedar, patchouli and vanilla musk.

I also have ML 'Victor No.9 which is the same as Essentials No.10 , the only difference is the Victor No.9 is 100ml size ,where as the x4 ML Essentials are 50ml size. Milton lloyd EDP's are worth checking out.

  11. That's what I call a 1950's shave. I remember my dad used to only shave with Ivory Soap. Enjoy your day Terry.

  12. Fine shave today. The Clubman brush, like that of Burma Shave, is kind of small, with a small knot. Hopefully, the CP boys will do as Stoylin and others have done..produce larger brushes. But I was overall pleased with things. No cuts, 2 Knicks(both down at Cactus)and no polka-dots. The pour sput of the Agadir A.S. is large...if you aren't careful, the A.S. flies in all directions at once. But it's nice. I received my Eight&Bob cologne yesterday. You don't get much of a scent right off the bat, but you gradually pick it up. I have the Original scent-a sample. The ingredients are Pink Pepper, Cardamom, a bit of Lemon, then Sandalwood and I forget the last one. $5 fior a 2ML sample, or $30 for all samples(same 2ML). JFK used it during a tour of France in 1937. He liked it so much he asked the maker of it for a set. He would get 8 and send 1 to his brother RFK("Bob") with each order. With such a tiny vial, you have to be careful in doing the back of your neck, as you can't see what you're doing. This morning I got more of it in my hair than neck. I'll finish off the original and MAYBE get the full sample set for $30 later. But I do not figure on getting full afterhaves or colognes....too much. As for the shave-As Outstanding As It Gets.

  17. +1 on the semogue 830 Gary...one of my first brush purchase's when I introduced myself to the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving. A superb brush..I find boars are great with hard soaps & shave sticks, and synthetics work better with shave creams or croaps.

  20. It wasn't a bad shave, I could use it every day. I'm just trying to get out of my shaving blues.
It's working, along with a motorcycle ride today.
